Caffè Concerto New Stratford — Restaurant in London

We popped in for a coffee, cake and sandwich and were seated next to the entrance opposite the bar with a view into the kitchen. The place looked unclean, messy and dirty. The floors were being mopped whilst we were there and the dirt was clearly visible, there were packs of water just sat on the floor and there was a piece of paper stuck to the till saying “no crepes or matcha”. All things I do not think a customer should be seeing. There were a lot of half empty and dirty glasses from the cleared tables on the bar, which I understand is a necessity but I do not think it appropriate to have a table right next to this. Dishes must also have been being washed here too which was very loud and noisy as they were being banged around. Again, an inappropriate place for a table to be. We ordered two coffees which were absolutely fine and we had no issue with. We did not order a sandwich as it was nearly £20 for a sandwich with fries. We did order cake, the one we originally wanted was not available so we accepted an alternative suggestion. This arrived to our table and was falling apart, had condensation all over the plastic and looked as though it had been sat out for days. It was a small slice and the quality did not justify the £8 price. We sent this back due to the abysmal appearance without trying it with a waiter who seemed confused and offered no apology. I’m confused as to why anyone would send out cake that looked in this condition. When we got the bill, the cost of the cake was still on there and we had to explain several times that we sent it back as it was really poorly presented and did not look fresh. The two ladies who served us were polite and friendly, so no complaints there. The place did not seem overly busy, but all the staff seemed to be rushing around and there didn’t appear to be much communication or understanding of what was going on and caused a stressful atmosphere, which isn’t pleasant to be around when you’re going somewhere for a drink or food. We witnessed food being sent back to the kitchen by other customers, and due to our proximity to the kitchen we could hear the staff disapproving of this and heard one member of staff say “seriously?” rather loudly and in a condescending manner. This is thoroughly unprofessional, and certainly should not be said within earshot of customers. The prices on the menu are elevated (nearly £5 for a Coke) and from what we witnessed the atmosphere, quality and service do not reflect the cost. I would not return here and would not...

My experience as staff well I was sented here as a waiter but the manager wanted to downgrade me to a runner, which I accepted and done. The manager said me to learn everything and be ready in a week which I tired to cover whole part mostly and still he wasn't satisfied and then this toxic manager downgraded again as not to take any payments nor orders then why should someone learn the menu, to see dreams of pasta? All you wanted me to do is carry plate and clean stuffs still I happily did. You were carried away with your arrogance, while U saw my small improvements your staffs saw things where your eyes couldn't reach, I mean in a month 4 weeks and in these weeks totally I might get 8 days maximum how am I gonna cover my debts with these. Except manager, everyone was good to me and I respect them. I am one of the biggest fan of Cafe Concerto. I have always been I used to go to Knightsbridge branch one day I came here with my friend we were looking for a good place. Surprisingly I found out that they open in Stratford as well. I wasn’t too sure if the quality of the food and service would be the same as other places, but when we entered, we have been served by a lovely lady named Sharmin A. Oh my God she made me feel like I’m at home even in my last visit in Café Concerto other places for like five years I have never ever come across that sort of service I’m not just making it up but she’s a real asset to the company my sister she hardly likes anyone but she absolutely loved her.
