A lovely family friendly cafe on Barking road next to other restaurants. The cafe serves a variety of hot and cold food and cold and hot drinks. We visited the cafe for some hot drinks after an evening meal at another restaurant. Parking available on side roads free after 6:30pm. The cafe had a lovely vibe about with with Pakistani/Indian style decor. Seating capacity for around 50+ people. Different seating zones for small or large groups. Seating was comfortable. The cafe was very clean, well light and all info on items and price very clearly signed on walls. The entrance has traditional Indian style chairs and decoration. The cafe has a great feeling of bringing you back to your roots atmosphere about it but with a modern touch. Walls were decorated with photos from the villages showing the traditional cultural feeling of this place and other items to spice up the decor. We came for some hot drinks but unfortunately came too late for the popular karak and chai drinks as they had finished, this is how popular this place is. The brother who serve us was very apologetic but agreed to make us some masala tea which was the closest we could get to Karak chaii. He was a very friendly person and made us feel at home while we took our seat. The order counter and surrounding has small touches which reminded of the cafe roots and that for a second you felt you were back home. I loved the little pillow with salt and pepper (would love to purchase one) and did suggest this to the staff serving us. We waited around 30mins and drinks were served again in a really lovely traditional toy cart again making the whole experience something different. Drinks were hot, well flavoured and tasted lovely once they cooled down. Drinks were served with some toast biscuits again reminded us all of experiences when visited cafes back home. A lovely cafe, great for families as you can sit down and using the decor and photos on wall talk to family, friends and children about your roots and culture back home because you have items to show them. Price of drinks were similar to other places but I enjoyed the drink here better. We all felt the brother who made it gave extra love as everything else had finished. Will visit again with friends and family. If you local do pop in you wont be...
Read moreTried this restaurant after seeing food bloggers/ influencers praising this place and its food. But it turned out to be one of the worst restaurant experience in the UK. To begin with, the restaurant was chilling cold and when we requested the staff to turn on the heating, she said ok but didn’t do it till we left the restaurant. From the menu, half of the dishes were unavailable. We ordered lime soda but it had no fizz. No staffs were present at the front and if we needed anything we should go and ring the bell at the counter to call the staff from inside. And the worst part was the food itself, which didn’t look or taste anywhere similar to the posts. The kandhari Mandi’s rice was bland, undercooked with no flavour. The chatti Porotta had a foul smell, we understood that it’s stale so we didn’t have it. We understood that we should not trust the food bloggers blindly who just praise restaurants because they get paid. Not...
Read moreI have tried this restaurant after watching the videos and posts shared on Instagram. The location and atmosphere were good however the service was worse. We had ordered 3 main courses and these items were served after a long wait. The lady who served the food did not give us either a spoon or a plate and I do not know how they expected us to have that food without a spoon and plate. There was no hand wash in the toilet and no tissue paper. The flow of the water from the tap was too slow, which takes you to wash your hands ages. The food was tasty but the quantity was less and mandi rice was not as awesome as they mentioned in the posts. The food is not worth the money. Kashmiri chaya has to be served in a proper glass but we got it in a paper cup without sugar. Overall our experience was not great and for sure we will not suggest this...
