Chick — Restaurant in London

I went yesterday to Chick at Brent Cross Shopping Centre for a falafel sandwich. I’ve enjoyed their falafel in the past, as has my wife, but I hadn’t visited in a while due to work and the 50-minute commute. After reading some recent negative reviews on their website, I decided to give it a try for myself, hoping they’d still be as good as I remembered.

The lady who served me was polite and accommodating, even agreeing to add extra tomatoes, but unfortunately, she didn’t know how to properly prepare a falafel sandwich. She piled all the salad at the bottom of the pita and placed the falafel on top. This made it impossible to eat properly, as all the falafel sat on top and the salad was left at the bottom.

When I sat down to eat, the bread split apart because it wasn’t fresh, and the whole sandwich fell apart. I ended up eating it like a plate of ingredients, which was frustrating. To make matters worse, the falafel was very dark, either from being overcooked or fried in old oil. Overall, it was an extremely disappointing experience, especially after making the 50-minute journey just to get there.

Poor hygiene! The two guys who served there today used the same plastic gloves for everything, ie preparing food as well as paying. When I asked them if they changed their gloves sometimes, I was firstly said that they didn't use cash, only cards, so it wasn't necessary. Then, they corrected themselves that they changed gloves (I noticed they weren't). I think that everyone is aware of payment cards being dirty. As does the payment terminal and till. Hygiene is still an issue to someone. Even in the pandemic time. Like the icing, falafel in pita with vegetables was disgusting. Not returning...

RAW CHICKPEA-BROKE MY TOOTH ! I ordered a falafel sandwich which came with raw chickpea in it which split my tooth in half. Spent my Christmas morning at the emergency dental centre as a result. When I went to see the manager, her answer was “ what do you want me to do about it” I also asked for the falafel batch to be discarded and replaced and for customers to stop being served during that time.
