Series of unfortunate events - really disappointed, plastic in food. We went to Coat and Badge on a normal Saturday lunchtime and we’re one of the first people to order a meal. It took almost 45 minutes for food to arrive and when it did they realised had forgotten my order which was a burger. My burger then arrived 10 minutes later and was extremely dry, and completely did not match the description. It was inedible despite how hungry I was. When asked if there was any sauce that I could add I was given chopped dry coriander. At this point the staff had refunded my meal and apologised by saying that they only have one chef in the kitchen. Soon after my partner bit into a piece of plastic which was in his food and hurt the top of his mouth and hit a nerve in his tooth. At this point staff were very apologetic and refunded his meal and took his detail down but did not explain why. We are now being contacted Food Alert seeking more details. While I appreciate it was not the front of house staff’s fault as it seems like a staffing level issue, it would have be responsible to mention they were low on staff and that food would take some time. Similarly if you can’t make a burger, it’s worth flagging rather than waiting an hour. It would have also been appropriate to disclose where our personal details were being sent. Since the incident we have heard nothing from the established. So disappointed as this is a regular spot for many in my network.

Great pub with a mouthwatering menu; great selections for vegetarian and meat lover alike. A bit pricey but definitely worth every penny; the Loaded plant is one amazing vegetarian burger. It doesn't look like a typical, boring veg burger but it's packed with flavour and it's very juicy. It's loaded indeed and to be honest you don't need any side. You either order with the staff or download the app to order everything to the table. My mate booked a table during a football game, which was fun and made the experience more lively. The only thing is that with the football game one, music blastering on the speakers, it was a bit of a challenge to chat with your friends. However if your sitting outside you might struggle to have a normal chat or conversation as it's loud.

Had a roast with a friend on Sunday at around 1.00pm, service was shocking. Asked for cutlery, waited 5 minutes and food went cold. Side of pigs in blankets, £7 for 5 tiny sausages on a bed of lettuce? That came out cold. Other side of cauliflower cheese arrived uncooked & cold with the cheese not even melted at all after we had finished our food with little to no apology?! Felt sorry for the staff who were 3 young girls who had clearly been left in the lurch on a busy Sunday lunchtime. Had to ask for a refund and only offered a refund for the pitiful cauliflower cheese and nothing else. Really gutted as like coming here for a drink but the food service was not great this time around. Certainly not worth the £60+ price tag.

We visited because the C&B used to be my friend's favourite pub in London. Not anymore, and I'm not really sure why such a fall from grace, but it seems since the takeover by Youngs...

Having to download the app to order food and drinks, what a ball ache. To advertise it as "keeping the conversation flowing" couldn't be further from the reality as two adults were buried on their phones for 15min. Especially when you also need to sign up for the pub WiFi to do it. Table service is non-existent, though at least you can still go to the bar. We had a miss-communication in our group around who had ordered what, because we used two separate phones to order, in order to split the bill. The fact that we had failed to order one main and all the sides wasn't picked up until we asked where our food was after 45min. Starters and a kids pasta turned up massively late, and half of it cold. The other order was a pork roast which must have accidentally gone to the wrong table. We managed to get one eventually but then realised our own mistake (wouldn't have happened with a human being waiter). By which stage, and it was only 4pm, all Sunday roasts had sold out, as had half the other mains.

The staff we did interact with were nice, but it was slow and largely absent service, apart from the guy doing drinks.

The pub itself has seen better days. The tapware in the bathroom is terrible (the disabled WC). Covered in black mould, and the place stinks. The regular toilets are cramped and just don't feel nice.

I used to love coming to this pub 15 years ago, but sadly I don't think I'll be in a...

Such a shame! Coat & Badge used to be the best Sunday Roast in Putney. Unfortunately it seems the love and care has disappeared from this establishment. Perhaps it’s a change of owner or post COVID challenges strangling the business.

On a recent trip for a Sunday Roast, I made a simple request for an extra Yorkshire pudding. Not a huge request, and one pretty much all other pubs are happy to accommodate. The reaction from the bar staff made me feel like i had asked her personally to go in the kitchen and whisk up some batter herself. I let the excuse of ‘we don’t know if we have enough’ slip. After all, it was 3pm and we were the only ones eating. Perhaps this was a sign!

I got the impression the staff were more interested in congregating at the end of the bar chatting rather than serving the customers.

After receiving our mains, we requested English Mustard and some salt and pepper. We received two paper cups, one containing American style hot dog mustard and the other contained table salt. What kind of restaurant isn’t able to even provide salt and pepper shakers!

Food was ok, nothing to shout about but the whole experience was dampened by disinterested staff and the very basics of running a restaurant being missed.

Probably good for a beer in the sun but there’s much better places for food in the area. Visit the The Crabtree on the other side of the river if you’re looking for...
