We were very much excited that five guys was finally opening in Putney. Yet, our excitement did not last long. We went there twice and had a great experience. The third and fourth time we were served from a young woman with brown fizzy hair, and brown eyes, on the receipt given to us, her name was “arulrekha” but the last time we came here, we were served by the same woman, but with a different name on the receipt “Sofia”. October 23, we were standing next to the till waiting to order, and the first thing she says to my fiancée is that she had already seen him there cause he had a “burger face”. I couldn’t believe my ears, how dare she. I have worked in a restaurant before, and I would never dream to say something like that to a customer. Anyway, we bought two hot dogs and two milkshakes, one without cream. When we had to pay, my fiancée was taking a little longer counting the coins he owed, and she said that she thought he was still having currency problems (honestly, I don’t know what she meant by that, but I think it had to do with the fact that we were speaking in our mother tongue language to each other). My milkshake came with cream on top, when I kindly requested without. We decided to give the place a last chance today, 29th October. We were served by the same woman, this time called “sofia” on the receipt. Again, she saw my fiancée, and said that she always sees him here, and that too many hamburgers will make his belly grow. That was the last straw for us. She probably finds it funny, but we don’t. My fiancée has been coming often to this five guys, and I don t see why he shouldn’t. A little bit more respect would do no harm. Definitely not...
Read moreWent there with 3 family members and for a 'fast casual restaurant' which is how they describe themselves on their website the price was extortionate. Altogether the price came to £50 and this is for 4 burgers, 2 portions of chips/fries and 4 milkshakes. However, this is only just the beginning of the qualms I have with Five guys as all of their fries/chips are cooked in peanut oil and me being allergic to all nuts bears a problem. There was no alternative to the chips and I was just simply told by a rather ignorant member of staff who served us that he wasn't particularly knowledgeable in allergies which should be a required part of his training which is quite worrying that they're as a restaurant chain not taking allergies seriously.
On top of that when my mother attempted to get the change all the cashier had was 20p coins whereas in a professional environment you should have several types of change available and not have to give your customers change in copious amounts. So as a result I was forced to go and change a £10 note to 2 £5 notes if we wanted chips. The only redeeming aspects of the experience there was the actual burger which was tasty but nothing astounding and the milkshake.
I wouldn't recommend Five guys to anybody it was sub...
Read moreMy favourite restaurant in London (I've spent over a decade visiting eateries in this city) and from mid-October 2022 to mid-July 2023 I've just reached the 100 milestone on their hotdogs. Ate the first 60 in under 4 months! Expensive but defintely, definitely worth it. Vanilla milkshakes are really good, they taste like ice cream. The Coca-Cola Freestyle is a machine where the user can choose from over 100 different flavours of drink and combine them in the cup staff give the customer when ordering this drink. It's unlimited - I've stayed there for over 1.5 hours and refilled 5 times, the staff are fine with it. Really good, quick staff and laid back atmosphere inside the restaurant. Every single topping and ingreedient, when cooked in Five Guys, tastes completely different and every single facility in every Five Guys branch I go to never ceases to deliver to the full extent. Great...
