Octagreen — Restaurant in London

I’ve been going to the foodilic in Brighton and King’s Cross for number of years and was very excited when one opened locally in Putney. However the experience was not a positive one. My vegetarian husband had an issue with understanding what was veggie as there were no labels explaining what was what. He asked one of the staff to explain veggie options to him, and the man he spoke to was not clear. My husband was led to believe that the chilli was vegetarian as the man explained that everything was vegetarian apart from the chicken. Having not eaten meat for 25 years he accidentally ate meat. This is very upsetting to a vegetarian!

We explained the situation to staff and there was no empathy, they just dumped the bill on our table when we’d finished. We paid our bill but wanted to raise the issue further as we were not satisfied with how we’d been treated, so we spoke to the owner. Again, there was a lack of empathy. The member of staff who explained the food items (badly) was called over and he made up an elaborate story to his boss that implied that it was all our fault.

It was easy to confuse meat chilli with veggie chilli in a mainly vegetarian restaurant and it looked like soya or quorn. I used the example that pret take situations like this seriously to highlight the lack of service - pret offer customers counselling and compensation if something like this happens. I did not expect anything like this, but perhaps knock off one meal from the bill or a good will gesture.

Ended up surrounded by 3 members of staff and told that it was my husband’s fault, and that we were after money. We were not after money at all! Only an apology that felt sincere and perhaps a good will gesture to restore good faith. To a vegetarian, eating meat by mistake is upsetting. All it would have taken was coffee or one meal taken off the bill.

We left feeling deflated and with regret, having been loyal foodilic customers for 5 years will not be returning to any branch having had this interaction...

This place had traditionally offered a good quality buffet at reasonable prices. There was always a variety of meat and vegetable options. The stewed beef, cauliflower cheese and the glazed chicken drumsticks/thighs were my favourites.However, I don’t regard the quality of food and service levels as highly as I used to.

Since May, I have visited a few times and haven’t been as satisfied. I realise the main customer base is people who work nearby visiting for lunch. However, this still doesn’t justify the lack of choice after 5pm. The quality of the food also seems lower due to the fact it has been standing. A better service used to be offered in the evenings.

There can be the odd issues with the daytime service too. Once I paid for a takeaway box but there was no plastic fork available.

Last year they introduced a policy of charging for overfilling takeaway boxes, which was publicised on a couple of posters. While I didn’t disagree with this approach, staff were a little direct about it. The customer first approach doesn’t seem to be as present as it used to be. The pricing structure has now changed and the staff now fill the boxes, however this is something I haven’t forgotten.

Outstanding Experience at Octo Green - Amazing Food and Excellent Service

I recently visited OctaGreen, and my experience was simply outstanding. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and warm, and the service was excellent. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, ensuring that all my needs were met.

The selection of food on offer was vast and delicious. I tried the jerk chicken, which was well-marinated, flavourful, and perfectly cooked. However, my favorite dish of the day was the lasagna - it was hearty, cheesy, and packed with flavour. Every bite was a delicious sensory experience.

The portions were generous, the plating was beautiful, and the presentation was top-notch. The prices were reasonable, and the value for money was exceptional. It's clear that Octo Green takes pride in serving high-quality food, which is reflected in the delicious flavors and impeccable presentation.

If you're looking for a place to enjoy a memorable meal, OctaGreen is definitely worth a visit. I'd highly recommend the lasagna and jerk chicken, but I'm sure everything on the menu is just as delicious. Overall, this is a place that I'll definitely be returning to and...
