Having heard about Daddy Donkey ages ago, I was pretty pleased to discover that it is but a brief walk away from my current offices. Situated on the bustling Leather Lane, DD has a healthy queue of burrito-hungry customers outside, so that - and the fact that it is decorated with super bright colours - means that you are not going to miss it!
Please forgive me whilst I get a bit scientific. But being vegetarian, the quest for the perfect burrito in London has added challenges for me. Instead of judging by the meat, I go with how well cooked the vegetables are, their range of different ingredient choices and how good / generous the guacamole serving is. I've got to say, having heard great things about DD, I wasn't beyond impressed. It was good, but not mind-blowing. I think Chillango has more of a choice of beans and they are a bit more generous with the cheese.
That said, the service is super quick and it's still blimmin' tasty. Plus, they are serving you out of a truck! Street food = novelty fun. Definitely...
Read moreBest burrito in London, no question. Good value for central location, quality ingredients and massive portions (you will need to take a nap after). Delicious, juicy meat you barely have to chew. Great selection of salsas and toppings that mean you can keep coming back and have a different experience. I now usually get the barbacoa or chicken with chipotle, and all the fixings. Huge selection of drinks (soft and alcoholic) and Mexican snacks and sauces (make sure you pick up a bottle of Valentina hot sauce). Only a couple of metal chairs and tables to sit outside, but a quick walk to Lincoln's Inn Fields where you can sit and enjoy some peace and quiet and have a romantic one to one with your burrito. Friendly service with a warm, family feel to the place. Recommend...

I received a bowl of food that looked like someone had eaten a burrito and then thrown it up. Everything looked like it had been blended together! On top of that, it tasted very average. The chicken was bland. The beans were completely flavourless. the the only bit of flavour came from the chorizo. The thinly grated cheese was congealed into one solid lump on top. A few shreds of lettuce were dumped on top of that, which was all soggy. The £2 pot of guac had hard stringy bits of avocado in them.
To be fair, the portion of meat seemed reasonable, but for the price, the quality of this food is so poor. It’s a...
