Beware of this scammer! The owner lures you immediately into the restaurant as soon as you take a quick look at the menu outside. The prices of the dishes on the menu do not include any side dishes. Even rice is not included in dishes like Chicken Tikka Masala, for example. All side dishes are charged separately at a very high price. When ordering, you are pressured into adding a lot of extras. The bill you receive is simply a handwritten note, the writing difficult or even impossible to read. The owner also adds a tip of over 20% to the bill. Taking the bill home was not possible. After your meal, you're forced to write a Google review in his presence. Therefore, please don't rely on the current overall rating; these reviews are not accurate! Furthermore, the restaurant has changed its name. It can also be found under the name "Taj Mahal Indian Tandoori", where it has a rating of 2 stars, for exactly the reasons I...
Read moreI was overnighting in London and was in the mood for curry, so I wandered into this place quite late in the evening. The short version is that the food was great, but the dining experience was disappointing. As others have mentioned, the dishes did not include any sides like rice or naan, and it was also unclear what is free and what is not at the time of ordering (e.g. water). The bill did nothing to clear up the mystery about how the charges were tallied up, because it was a handwritten note with the price on it. In my view, 27 GBP for a curry, a couple of naan, and a plastic bottle of water is pretty steep, even coming from a less-expensive market. The owner was quite pushy and suggested that I order even more food and drink, and I would have spent over 40 GBP if I had succumbed to that pressure. I'll definitely try some other Indian restaurants before I return here. It's a shame, because I really...
Read moreThis restaurant is clearly trying to take advantage of customers. We were served poppadums before our meal without requesting them — naturally assuming they were complimentary as is common in many restaurants. To our surprise, they were later added to the bill at an unreasonable charge.
When we questioned it, the owner responded aggressively and even threatened to call the police — which we welcomed, as we knew we had done nothing wrong. Once he realized his intimidation wouldn’t work, he ended up reducing the poppadum charge by 80%.
As for the food, the chicken biryani was a complete disappointment — very little rice, with small leftover-style pieces of chicken. Overall, it was a frustrating and unpleasant experience.
Would strongly advise...
