Alba Rosa — Restaurant in London

NOT family friendly at all the waiter asked if I had a reservation as soon as he saw me, didn’t greet me at all just asked do you have a reservation first red flag !!! 🚩the place only had 3 on people inside and 2 sitting in the outside so it was not busy at all, they then said they wanted to seat me in the outside so that my child wouldn’t disturb the other guest!!!! 😳 I was being discriminated for having a young child. I could sense from the moment I stepped in the restaurant they didn’t want me or my family there, I actually choose this place for the good reviews but this place DOES NOT want people with children at all!!!!! So disappointed 😔 ….

Update 19/09/23: The response of the owner is so insulting, hasn’t even offer an apology or to investigate further, I attended your restaurant on the 9th of September 2023 at around 4 ish there wouldn’t be any record as we didn’t pre-book you had 2 mature Caucasian gentlemen as the waiters, in front of house and inside, the gentlemen that told me to seat by the outside so my 16 month old child wouldn’t “disturb” the other guest even said Bella to me, they must remember the 7ft tall black male and a 5ft Hispanic female with a Afrolatina toddler in a buggy, if not please check your CCTV and don’t further insult...

They call this an American BBQ place, but I've had plenty of BBQ in America. Even the worst BBQ places in America are better than this place. Nothing about Smoke n Flames, and especially not the BBQ food, is anything like what you would find at any BBQ restaurant in America.

I ordered the BBQ pulled pork sandwich, and it came out with no seasoning whatsoever, no actual bun (they used 2 pieces of white bread), and certainly no smokey BBQ flavour. It was honestly the worst BBQ I've had in my entire life.

Also, no place should be allowed to call themselves an American BBQ joint unless they make their own BBQ sauce. They only had Heinz BBQ sauce out of a plastic bottle, and when I asked for their actual BBQ sauce, it was just more Heinz BBQ sauce out of a bottle.

Finally, our waiter couldn’t have been less friendly. He seemed annoyed we were even there, not cracking a smile and getting frustrated when we were asking for clarification about an item on the menu. Again, if you’re going to call this place an American BBQ place, you should be at least as friendly as most Americans are in restaurants there.

I would like to edit my review. We went for a meal here with 8 in our party. We did have a long wait for food which did put a downer on the whole evening. HOWEVER: Food quality was great, cooked fresh and does stand out among the other restaurants offering similar cuisine. Michael - the manager went above and beyond to have this corrected, he contacted us after the meal to explain what happened in more detail and personally apologise for it. He also noticed a error in the bill and wanted to correct this himself. In all honesty I can say I have never met a owner of any food establishment so committed to making sure their customers are satisfied and wanting to return. He spoke to the members of staff involved with the lengthy wait for food and I genuinely believe this was simply a mishap on that particular night and that due to Michael's passion for his restaurant, that this will not happen again. I would be very happy to give this 5 stars when I come back for another meal and the food comes out at the right time since every other...
