I went to Premises at 2 o'clock on a Sunday for brunch with 6 friends. Had we booked? No. However, as busy as it was, the proprietor was unphased by the sight of us. With an efficiency that would make a German carmaker beam, a table had been cleared, we had been seated, and orders had been taken. In the space of 15 minutes, we had all been served, and were tucking in.
Now, while I can only speak for the quality of their breakfasts, I did end up having two so I think that makes me a reliable reviewer. In my opinion, they cannot be faulted: the toast was perfectly toasted and generously buttered, the eggs were cooked to perfection, the portions were generous without being overwhelming, the selection was broad (it ranges from Turkish meze to English staples), and the customer service was remarkable. As I embarked on finishing a friend's platter, the proprietor materialised offering to reheat the food and when he returned he did so bearing 2 complimentary slices of toast. How much did this set me back? Less that £15.
For this value, and the experience that Premises has given me, I cannot recommend it enough to anyone looking for a good Sunday brunch. I give it 5 stars and look forward to going...
Read moreMy experience at Premises Cafe & Bistro was sensational.
I went there for brunch after a making a quick reservation. Although we were late (bus classic), we were very well greeted and placed promptly by the waiter. The team took our orders (2 Full English breakfast - 2 drinks) very quickly yet without being pushy as it was very busy.
The food arrived and it was a blast, from their sausages to the buttery seeded toasts, this breakfast will set you for your sunday starve ! The food is not too oily, it comes into great portion and all the sucessfull elements of the " traditional breakfast" are there ! (except from black pudding). After checking most of breakfast places in London for a full plate, this cafe has it all !
The real plus is the owner and his team. It was packed yet they really made sure we were all seated comfortably and we could eat our plates without running on each other! The servers were very polite and attentive!
I will definetely come back and only one advice come early...
Read moreIn a world where your local coffee shop is now owned by a private equity company, and style has been mass-manufactured into bland conformity, The Premises stands out as a bastion of culture, community, and good food.
Attached to a storied recording studio of the same name, the walls are plastered with signed photos of musical legends, all thanking The Premises for their hospitality.
Speaking of the food, it is excellent. I recommend their specialty spicy sausage menemen or an omelette for breakfast and for lunch, my favorite, the chicken burrito! You really can’t go wrong and the coffee is lovely as well.
The true magic at The Premises Cafe are the people. A family-run business that treats you like family. As a recent transplant to the area I’m grateful to them for creating a sense of home away from home. That is the power of community.
While the surrounding neighborhood is quickly gentrifying, you can trust The Premises to be a timeless institution that’ll never change,...
