Nice place but extremely rude security staff. I have never been in a place before treating customers like this.
I was ordered to open my bag for search and as I had a scarf in the bag the security guy asked me to ‘TAKE IT OUT’. While taking the scarf out of my bag I couldn’t help giving him an irritated look as I am not used to being talked this way in my everyday life, and especially when I visit places as a customer. He got angry and said that I had an attitude and I would create problems in the bar and thus he wouldn’t let me in. I replied that my problem was that he was rude to me and all it would take was to say ‘Take it out PLEASE’ to customers. He continued saying he was entitled to search my bag and nobody else had reacted other than me, completely losing the point of me being offended by his behaviour (or trying to exercise his ‘power’ whatsoever). Finally, we were denied entry to the venue. This was the second time a security staff in Frank’s Café was extremely rude to us. Don't bother, there are some many other nice places in Peckham with lovely people...
Read morewitnessed something absolutely shocking and embarrassing for Frank's café and their staff. Two peaceful kids about 20, intensely HARASSED and eventually KICKED OUT by 3 security guards, for eating their own food ! Not everyone can afford your prices franks!
they were trying to eat some Food they had brought, while enjoying the sunset like everyone else. they were obviously exhausted and just needed to eat, and i guess could not afford the gentrified restaurant prices.
I've been going to this south london roof top for 15 years and I was ashamed to see what I saw. by the time they were getting forced out, the girl was visibly upset, crying. probably very humiliated and hungry, as they had drawn attention. The whole scene was violent and aggressive and I saw 3 big men leaning over 2 young scared kids, just to poor shame them and eventually force them out.
i don't know if i wil be coming back here. i am genuinely ashamed of FRANK'S CAFE AT...
Read moreFrank's is a cultural phenomenon. Scale the great pink staircase and above the institution that is peckhamplex you will find wonders a plenty. Best visited at sunset, Frank's offers unparalleled (by rooftop bars in peckham) views over the London skyline. You can also catch some of the films being shown at the rooftop cinema atop the nearby Bussey building. If you're feeling Bus-y yourself Frank's can be reached by a large number of Tfl bus routes. These include but are not limited to: the p4, p12, 63, 37, 363 etc.. Each of these routes stop outside the nearby Peckham rye train station, the primary transport hub in the Peckham area.
Frank's offers a relatively small range of beers, but compensates for this with its lively atmosphere and the aforementioned views and public transit accessibility. For this reason it has become a spot of pilgrimage for those deigning to be trendy from South London and beyond. Enjoy Frank's,...
