I called in for dinner on the way to the train station, and I was drawn largely by the decor, and the fact they had Greek spinach pie on the menu - not something you see very often! The venue itself is beautiful and very 'quirky chic', the staff were all very attentive, friendly and considerate, and it all made for a very nice atmosphere (I LOVE the bowler hat lampshade!) The live singer was extremely talented and I was sad that her set finished halfway through my meal, but the ambient music afterwards was pleasant enough and not obtrusive.
However, the thing that let the restaurant down unfortunately is the food. I had the spinach pie and hummus, as the vegetarian and vegan options are virtually non-existent (I was surprised there wasn't even one vegetarian burger option on what was an extensive burger list!), and even as starters I was surprised how small the portions were. The presentation was lovely, the cutlery and crockery all beautiful again, but I can't explain how bland it all was. It wasn't horrible, it was perfectly pleasant and enjoyable to eat, but it's as if the blandness has actually stolen my memory of tasty food I've eaten before, it was Just. So. Flavourless.
Hummus can be a tricky one to get right, but this had the consistency of beige acrylic paint, and tasted of beige - imagine Starmer as a mezze dish (bless him 😂). I was really surprised because nothing else pointed to this being anything other than a wonderful experience, but as a lot of other reviews have mentioned, the issues seem to be coming from a kitchen fearful of seasoning and spice.
The ice cream was nice haha, but it was all very very highly priced for the size and quality. I can only imagine what you'd have to pay to get the rest of the flavour included in the dishes.
It's such a shame, I can't speak for the whole menu but as a vegetarian making do with limited options, I couldn't recommend this for dinner - but definitely for the service, and as a great...
Read moreThe worst experience of my life I felt discriminated against. I personally went to make a reservation for 20 people to celebrate my birthday now in March and I got there at first I was well attended to by Mathew, a very friendly guy gave me all the necessary information until the owner arrived. and a manager was all ready for my reservation and suddenly the manager called the attention of the guy who served me and said that I do want a reservation to make online, I was devastated and left there and still wrote to the restaurant by email and to me Surprisingly, they answered me saying the complete opposite of what they had informed me. First they told me I didn't have to pay to reserve, then they said yes, 300 pounds, then I wanted to take my birthday cake without any problems in the email that I would have to pay to take away Also, it was mandatory to choose the menu since there is a variety of dishes there and not everyone wants a menu. Even so, I decided to call by phone and it was the worst thing I could do. The owner, whose name is José, answered me. The Portuguese was super rude and rude on the phone alone. I had objections to not celebrating my birthday there, in short, I don't recommend anything there. For me, the worst experience is a nice place but the owner and the manager leave a lot to be desired, bad management and lack...
Read moreA long overdue review…. I had a work event at GA Kings X in September for a group size of 40people. Aurelia, the event manager, provided VIP, top notch customer service (give this woman a raise 🙌)! I am not local, but based in the US, and because I could not see the space in person she gave me her personal number to FaceTime her so she could show me around the different spaces they offer. She even went so far to help rearrange the furniture in the space we hosted the Happy Hour. We had drinks and apps, all well priced and delicious. They offer vegan, vegetarian, meat lovers, and even accommodated a gluten free meal for one person. During the event, Aurelia welcomed my team and served beer, wine, and champagne. She also took cocktail orders for my group. Even the non drinkers were impressed by the level of service she provided. The ambience is colorful and fun, but yet swanky and cool. A DJ plays down tempo music that you can hear in the background, it’s not too loud or too soft, but just the right volume. We reserved the back space in the restaurant, with high table tops, and low tables with chairs for a group size of 40 people. 30 would for this space would be best, 40 people fit but was cozy. Highly recommend GA Kings X and working with Aurelia for your...
