🚇 Euston 🍺 £6.80 Heineken ❤️ A Euston Road Stalwart. . Halfway between Euston and Kings Cross/St Pancras stations sits The Rocket pub. The nearest Tube is a split decision, either station is a few minutes walk away. . This Grade II listed pub was built in 1856 and rebuilt in its present form in 1899. The pub started life as The Rising Sun, it was renamed as The Friar & Firkin in 1992 and has been The Rocket since around 1999. . This large pub was refurbished in spring this year to give it a new lease of life. There is a modern contemporary fresh feel here, much has changed since my last visit six years ago. One of the best features of this pub are the beautiful arched windows that flood the main bar with light. Some other original features remain like the back bar which is a thing of beauty. Around the bar are nods to the railways, there are pop art style prints and gauges adorning the walls. . The beer line up was a selection of mainstream keg, a few craft brews plus three cask options. I chose a pint of Heineken, my pint was decent and price point was aimed at passing trade not locals. The food menu is extensive, there are British Classics, lots of comfort food options and mix & match Tapas. We thought we would try out the Tapas 5 for £21 deal, the portions were hearty, the food tasted great and reasonably priced too. . We visited early on a June evening around 7pm. The pub was fairly busy with passing punters plus a few in to watch the Norway v Scotland game. The service was good , we didn’t have to wait long to be served at the bar and to receive our food at the table. The pub shows live premiere league and champions league football and hosts DJ nights throughout the month. . It was good to see this grand pub reinvigorated and get a fresh makeover. This is a good spot for pre-train home drinks, a bit of grub and watching the footy. @therocketpub is well worth a look if you’re in the area. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 17.06.23

“Don't bother, the food is crap” This pubs food is rubbish, I went there on a Sunday for the roast special, I was told that it would be 35 minutes wait, I ordered a couple of drinks and waited and waited and waited. Nearly an hour later a pathetic excuse for a roast turned up, I couldn't believe it I waited an hour for 3 pieces of meat that were about 3mms thick and as tough as boot leather, the carrots were tasteless and the Yorkshire pudding was nothing but puff pastry, I had never eaten it before and never will. I took 2 mouthfuls of this disgraceful meal and left absolutely disgusted. This is a rip off. These photos are from lunch earlier that day, could have bought a better piece of fish from the supermarket.

The sign unfortunately is a bit of a lie, the 9.75 for a beer and burger turned out not to exist… the staff I spoke to gave all sorts of reasons I was told, it’s only on Sunday, it’s only in the evening, it’s only for students… whilst their sign clearly says happy hour from Sunday to Thursday 4pm to 9pm and only the 20% student discount is of course exclusive to students. The cheapest drink and burger combo is around £12 I think which is still good since you can have a pint of Guinness included in this. The burger is very tasty as well so very much worth the money. I just wish the signs wouldn’t be so deceiving!

The Rocket is a pub along Euston Road between Euston and Kings Cross Stations. You'll find a fairly large indoor seating area and a menu with a wide range of British and other western dishes. An expected range of beers and other drinks on offer as well. Opening hours are 9am until late each evening. Table spacing is quite good, service is friendly, prices reasonable. Recently popped in and ordered their Steak & Guinness Pie, was a generous serving size and tasted just fine. All in all, a good option for lunch or quick meet up in the area. Would have no problem popping into The Rocket again in the future.

Meh. Bread was hard but unsure why it was there in the first place. All felt microwaved, some parts luke warm and tasted like an ok microwave meal. Prawns were freshly fried but not great quality which is fine, I wasn't expecting gourmet. The person beside us left a lot of their fish and chips. Wine good. I went a while ago after hours and the nibbles and drinks were good so went for a work lunch. I don't know what happened. Drinks were good. Waitress super nice but I can understand why it was practically empty at lunch in such a high traffic area.

Fantastic experience at The Rocket. Our group of 5 reserved a table for the boxing match between Fury and Usyk on Saturday 18th May. We were very well looked after and had fantastic seats for the screens. Service was excellent, with a special mention to the manager Brenton who went above and beyond to ensure we were all well looked after. We then returned the following morning for a full English breakfast which was excellent, really enjoyed it and great value for money. We highly recommend The Rocket and hope to be back in the future
