I wonder why these reviews are so variable when it comes to rating the service? More than once we've noticed that the person who has served us, whilst being polite, has given off definite 'superiority' vibes, as though we're not quite posh enough to be worth serving with any warmth or human connection. Today when my husband apologised for taking a while to use the loyalty app on his phone, and explained 'it's just that all the coffee shop apps are so different', he was asked by the member of staff 'What do you mean?' He explained 'Well it's just that Cafe Nero, Pret, Gail's etc all have apps that work a bit differently' and the staff member replied 'Well it's up to you where you get your coffee - you don't have to come here'!!! WHAT? That particular staff member really doesn't care about retaining customers, do they?! I think I'll stick with Superette down the street where ALL the staff are so warm and friendly. I wonder whether Gail's has got just a little bit 'up...
Read moreI ordered a turkey sandwich. Nevertheless, I asked if there was any other meat in the sandwich. The employee answered with no, just turkey. So I trusted him. After a bite into my sandwich, I realised, that bacon is in it. Afterwards, I brought my sandwich back. The employee said there can't be any bacon in there, we don't sell bacon in Gails (which is really absurd because they sell so many products with pork). After he opened my sandwich, I showed him that bacon is in it. He didn't apologise or agree with me. Only after request did I get my money back. Very unprofessional staff. Unfortunately, they are not well informed about the ingredients. As an employee and seller, you should know exactly what you sell. By the way, I don't eat pork for religious reasons. But for a vegetarian, this wrong information would be...
Read moreI'm a fan of Gails, their pastries, breads and coffees. They are pricy, but you can usually count on quality if you want to treat yourself. However, today I ordered a new offering at Gails, a Pastrami Rachel sandwich which was all but inedible. It was swimming in Russian dressing which had soaked through the bread making it soggy, it was light on sauerkraut and the pastrami was gristly, chewy, fatty and utterly inedible. The one potentially nice thing was the bread it was served on but, sadly, the soupy mayonnaise had soaked through and destroyed the bread. I also ordered a coffee and a piece of cake which was delicious, I always enjoy the atmosphere and sitting in Gails. I love Gails, but some of their offerings are too fatty and this sandwich...
