George Farha Café - Students' Union UCL — Restaurant in London

One of my friends bought a cake and so i went to the counter and asked for a plastic fork to try her cake. The lady said that they don't give plastic forks unless we purchase an item so I explained to her that I wanted to try my friend's cake. She agreed to give me the plastic fork. After I tried my friend's cake, I took out my salad (we are allowed to bring our own food into the cafe as it is part of UCL Union) and used the same fork to eat my salad. The lady from the counter approached me and yelled at me "You know you shouldn't be using the plastic cutlery to eat your own food, only the food you purchase from here. You could get kicked out for this!" and she stormed back to the counter. Five seconds later, a security guard came to my table and said 'it has come to my attention that you have asked for a plastic fork from the counter to eat your own food when you have been clearly instructed you are not allowed to'. I explained that I was entitled to a plastic fork as my friend had bought cake and we both wanted to have some. I understand that I was not supposed to use it to eat my own food but I still think that their behaviour towards me was quite extreme. Who calls security for a...

Not a student, but I still like a bargain! Down here from up North where men are men and we complain about paying more than we should for a decent brew. Turns out, once I'd found this place I had go look for something else to complain about. Decent grub at realistic prices from friendly staff in a reasonably quiet comfortable setting. I approve wholeheartedly and have now visited several times. Still not found anywhere to beat it for value. Well...

Ordered hot chocolate, tea, and tart. Asked for gluten free sandwiches and at 11:00 all sold out. Tart was soggy lost its crispy texture. Asked to have tea bag on the side and was informed that it will cost extra for another cup. Decided to forgo the order Went to Costa coffee and no problem, had gluten free bap, hot chocolate and apple tart with my teabag on the side. Complete service...
