We visited The George Club for a business lunch with three guests and were immediately impressed by the stunning building and elegant decor. The terrace seating was a lovely touch—peaceful, stylish, and perfect for a professional yet relaxed atmosphere.
The staff were smart, friendly, and impressively attentive, striking a great balance between professionalism and warmth. We were quickly offered sparkling water and G&Ts, though the drinks took a little longer than expected and the wrong tonic was used. That said, the team handled it well, offering to correct the mistake without hesitation.
The menu was appealing, with a standout special of fish and chips. We enjoyed crispy bread and creamy butter at the table, and also ordered some real bread, which was a nice touch. Starters included prawn cocktails and carpaccio, both beautifully presented and fresh.
For mains, we had a pork chop, loin steak, and the fish and chips, along with a sharing plate of king prawns. Every dish was cooked to perfection and delicious, with thoughtful plating and generous flavor.
We each had a glass of wine with our mains, followed by desserts and a matching port. While the port arrived promptly, the desserts were slow to appear, and the coffees were forgotten—a small but noticeable lapse in an otherwise smooth service.
Portions were on the smaller side, and at £600 including tip, the bill felt steep, even for Mayfair. Still, the overall experience—ambience, food quality, and service—was memorable and well-suited for a high-end business lunch.
Would return, especially for the setting and service, but with hopes for slightly more consistent...
Read moreWhen reflecting on my recent dining experience at Gorges, one name comes to mind as the epitome of exceptional service: Simone Grilli. As the hostess of the evening, Simone truly went above and beyond to ensure that my cousin Abdul and I felt welcomed and taken care of throughout our meal.
From the moment we walked through the doors of Gorges, it was evident that we were in for a treat. The ambiance was inviting, the food was delectable, and the overall vibe of the restaurant was nothing short of fantastic. However, what truly set our experience apart was the impeccable service provided by Simone. Her warm demeanor and attention to detail made us feel like valued guests, and her genuine enthusiasm for the food and atmosphere at Gorges only enhanced our dining experience.
In conclusion, I cannot recommend Gorges highly enough, and a significant part of that recommendation is due to the outstanding service provided by Simone Grilli. If you are looking for a memorable dining experience with delicious food, good vibes, and impeccable service, Gorges is the place to be. And if you're lucky enough to be served by Simone, you're in for a truly...
Read moreThe food is always good, the service friendly and efficient: and this time I was impressed that the gatekeeper remembered me by name as it had been a while since I was last there and we turned up without a reservation. We ordered main courses, skipping starters; my guest a veal Milanese with the bone attached as it should be and I ordered a steak tartar because in my opinion it is one of the best in London. We shared a half bottle of excellent burgundy wine followed by yogurt sorbet for my guest and blood orange sorbet for me, then coffee. The sorbet were homemade and excellent. I am pleased that we went back and will...
