This is a very in DEPTH review by an "intermediate" Bodybuilder:
Burger size - For 13 pounds "The Mighty"... More like the "Puny" burger. For the price is was very small which I was not happy with.
Taste - C'mon, when I go eat somewhere I want it to taste better than my cooking at home. Especially for the price and service. The sauce was "ok" - very plain even though it looked very tasty. The burger was medium rare, I give them that, but the taste was missing. You know when you bite a high quality burger, the juices just melt in your mouth and give a very rich and deep flavour of beef... well this was not the case either....
Worth- For the calories of the mighty burger: 1300cals. This is coming from a fitness fanatic-tracking calories Definitely not worth it and who even decided that two 6oz patties have 90 grams of protein... absolutely wrong. Yes, I know this is fast food and I shouldn't care about the calories BUT if I will be eating 1/3 of my daily calories in JUST ONE burger and 3/3 of may daily calories with all of the sides I got- peanut butter shake and thick cut fries, THEN I WANT IT TO TASTE AMAZING!
Service - it was good. Pretty standard. Maybe a bit more enthusiasm would create a better vibe?
I was hoping for the famous GBK to satisfy my senses but they completely disappointed me.... I am also comparing GBK to Red Dog Saloon in Soho, where the burger literally blew me away. The tastiest burgers I have eaten in...
Read moreThis was my first visit to a Gourmet Burger restaurant. As I had never experienced the menu or the protocol for ordering, I felt a bit lost. Surrounded by many people vying to get seated I placed an order for a burger & an order of onion rings. A waitress eventually delivered them and the first thing I noticed was a small pool of liquid spreading from beneath the bun. I picked up the burger to find ut dripping with what appeared to be water. In fact, there was so much moisture I found the buns disintegrating. I wasn't angry about this- just a bit disappointed. I could not catch the waitress' attention, so I had to get up to visit a table which had cutlery and napkins. I'm an onion-ring aficionado and noticed how delightfully crunchy the rings appeared to be. They looked ss if they'd been rolled in Panko bread crumbs. I bit into the wonderfully crunchy ring, but quickly discovered that the rings were so heavily spiced that they burned my mouth rather badly. Being rather disappointed, after consuming about half if the burger and only one ring, I gave up and left. I purchased some insipid ready-made sandwich from the nearby mini-Sainsbury's and took it back to my hotel. I've read lots if msrketing hype about Gourmet Burger, however, I'm afraid this particular shop didn't knock...
