Hair found in the Pizza, and Italian comments on Mussolini (doubtful on whether they really call their Chef that!). When we found this place we thought it's such a beautiful little gem and were so happy! The staff looked friendly and besides few loud customers, all started well. We started eating the pizza but unfortunately half way through I found a long hair in my pizza. As we were squeezed between 2 other tables, and happy customers, I called the 'supervisor/manageress' to let her know about the issue almost embarrassed and keeping it as quiet as possible. I was puzzled as the pizza was good and did not want to say anything but at the same time pretty sure it was not mine. Shortly after, I could see her imitating me to the other waitress describing how I told her about the incident. I was offered another pizza but it's too late and to be fair I did not really want to eat another one after having found a hair in the one I was just having. We asked for the dessert menu, and heard the staff saying in Italian that only tiramisu could have been available given the time. That's understanding given the oven was off, but again a dismissive attitude in conveying the message. We were then given a bill with that pizza on and the service added onto it. The table next to us had then finished and told the staff how amazing the pizza was, and shortly after the waitress started rumbling in Italian 'but she complained', and something about how it was during Mussolini times. At that point I started speaking Italian and explained the only reason I had complained was because of the hair. She told me I was confused, and then when prompted on the Mussolini comment she said that's how they call their Chef. She tried to explain but the whole experience was just unacceptable. Without asking, we were then given another bill, as another member of staff prompted the supervisor/manageress to issue one. This one did not have that pizza nor the service. Needless to say a disappointing experience and such a shame with this racism...
Read moreThis is in response to your reply, firstly I DID NOT ask to be seated on my own on a four seater table, that is 100% NOT what I asked when I came in your restaurant and stating that in your reply is just a flat out lie ! Again just to reiterate, I DID NOT ask to be sat on a 4 seater table on my own ! What I did ask was to be sat at the 2 seater table next to the one the waitress suggested, which was free. The reason for this was so I wasn’t sat right next to a couple that was on a table next to the one the waitress suggested. Again, just to make it perfectly clear I DID NOT ask to be sat on a four seater table on my own. When I made this very easy and reasonable request, this is when the attitude of the waitress totally changed, as I stated in my previous review when my pizza came, the waitress basically slammed it on the table and was openly rude and miserable towards me from that moment on. This is the reason for my bad review, to the management of Pizza Sophia maybe you should employ staff who actually want to be there and provide good customer service and not respond with untrue and sarcastic replies.
I’ve been here many times and its always been very good, however tonight was very different. The pizza was good as normal but what let it down was the terrible attitude of the waitress, I would say she was openly rude just because I asked to be seated at a slightly different table. When my pizza came she pretty much slammed it on the table and throughout my meal was unpleasant and miserable. This puts me off ever coming here again, I suggest to the management that they should employ staff who actually want to be there and make their customers feel welcome. My advice to anyone considering dining here is to avoid and go somewhere where the waitresses actually treat you with a...
Update to Business reply: When a restaurant is reviewed by anyone, the review includes everything from they way they treat their customers, the taste of their food, their cleanliness and all the way up to if they respect their hours of operations. The reply this “business” gave me saying my review was bad even though I haven’t eaten here just goes to show a restaurant will always find an excuse to make up for their mistakes. I don’t just have 3 o 4 reviews. My reviews are accurate and aim directly at those persons looking for a great experience. What happened to me today is not something I want it happen to someone else. Again! Please don’t look at this place as a first option specially if moving around town is needed. To the owners and staff: STOP MAKING UP EXCUSES and just be ready when someone comes in for service. If you can’t provide the service you offer, then just close down like also many other London restaurants do. They close down and update their working hours in google maps. As a google guide with over 300+ reviews, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NONA SELENA PIZZERIA! DON’T EAT AT THIS PLACE CALLED...
