Been seeing lots of ads on Instagram about this bakery that came from Dubai and so I thought I would try it out myself and see what's my verdict.
Came during lunch time from work in Westminster and it wasn't too crowded, although customers did come and go regularly. I ordered a bunch of pastries as I wasn't interested in their cakes (also too pricey for what's worth). My reviews for them are as follows:
Chocolate croissant brioche (I sat down and had it in the bakery) - flaky on the outside and fluffy on the inside, lots of chocolate cream filling and it's not too sweet - 7/10
Pistachio chocolatine - good ratio of pistachios and chocolate filling, croissant dough itself wasn't too much so a good balance. Liked the nuttiness to balance out the sweetness - 7.5/10
Raspberry danish - good visual but tasted mediocre. Couldn't taste anything from the custard, didn't go nicely with the raspberries - 4/10
Pain au chocolat - chocolate filling was good, not too sweet. Dough was not too much compared to the filling ratio - 6/10
Cruffin basque - my personal joint-favourite pastry out of the 7 I got. The dusted sugar on the outside and the flakiness of the croissant dough was so good, basque filling was flavoursome and I loved it altogether - 8/10
Plain croissant - gotta try the basic of all pastries to observe the pastry expertise this place has. Average, not the best croissant I have had in London. Too much croissant dough in the middle, so not fluffy and light enough - 5/10
Pain Suisse - the other joint-favourite out of the 7 pastries. Very generous filling of chocolate throughout the middle layer, really flaky yet light at the same time - 8/10
Service was good, friendly staff who nicely packaged all my takeaway pastries separately. Like the vibes inside the place, modern, classy and relaxing. The plate that served my chocolate croissant brioche was cute. This is definitely a pricey bakery considering it's in Mayfair, so expect each pastry to cost around £5/6. However, I would be happy to come back and try the chocolate slice next time, just to see what the hype is and why that's their...

Read moreAfter having an amazing lunch locally, I skipped dessert and opted to get some dessert from Kayu as I had been meaning to try it. The branding and presentation is excellent and the service was decent too. However, I was extremely disappointed by the dessert, I tried out 3 desserts that are apparently the best sellers and I still can't wrap my head around why people like them. For me dessert is supposed to be something indulgent, fully of flavour and something that leaves you fulfilled after having a craving for it. These were tasteless, not sweet at all, bland and boring. I get it there is a trend now for desserts with virtually no sugar nor taste and if that trend is your thing then this is the spot for you. But it is definitely not for me, and at £30 for 3 pieces what a huge disappointment....honestly some of the worst dessert I've ever had and it looks so good that's the worst part. I like my dessert indulgent and these just are not it....I wouldn't recommend it if you are craving something sweet or if you have a...
