A group of us visited Ye Grapes for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. The pub is located in a little square off Piccadilly and was roughly a five minute walk from Green Park tube station. I had made a reservation online a couple of days before and received confirmation that our party of 7 could be accommodated. We got there early for a couple of drinks in the bar before going upstairs to the restaurant. The main reason why I booked Ye Grapes was because they had both British and a Thai menu, so everyone was happy. I must say that after reading some of the reviews, I was a little apprehensive, but my apprehensions were totally unfounded. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious. They had a Thai lunch deal (2 courses for £14.50 between 12pm and 330pm) which was an added bonus. I had the Thai green curry with tofu, and it was really lovely and fragrant and not too hot. The kitchen is open until about 9pm. You're probably looking at about £20 a head for lunch and a drink. We took a 10 minute walk to Bond St to catch the Elizabeth line home. Would recommend a lunch time visit if you're...

We came here after the changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace and fortunately it was not crowded. I had the pie and chips with veg and was not disappointed. Flaky, tender of pastry atop a savory meat stew hit all the right spots. My wife's fish had a delightfully crisp, light batter with no mealiness underneath, and was quite a large portion. The chips were tasty as well. The beer selection was ordinary but having the casks made us feel it was still worth the visit. It's tucked away in a little crook of the street; passing through a little pedestrian passage got us there. While not fancy or spectacular, it provided a welcome respite to keep us on our feet for the rest of the afternoon's sightseeing. It's clean, comfortable, and friendly inside. I should also point out we sought out Ye Grapes because it was the favorite of a dear, departed Londoner friend. We...
Read moreI was craving a Sunday roast and decided to try this pub while walking around the area. Even though it wasn’t very busy, we gave it a chance since they offered roast options (chicken, beef, or lamb).
We went for the beef, but when it arrived, it honestly didn’t look worth £16.95. Still, we tried to eat it so the money wouldn’t go to waste. Unfortunately, the beef was so dry that my partner almost choked, it got stuck in her throat, and we had to ask for water. She couldn’t eat any more after that.
The vegetables tasted like they had been frozen and didn’t feel fresh at all. The gravy was extremely watery. honestly, you’d be better off bringing your own instant gravy powder and asking for hot water.
I forced myself to finish the meal, but a few hours later I started feeling sick and nauseous from what I ate.
In my opinion, this pub is fine if you’re just coming for drinks, but I wouldn’t recommend eating here. Of course, everyone’s experience is different, but...
