TLDR: As a local Londoner I would NOT recommend. It's overpriced mediocre drinks (did not try food but expect it to be the same from the looks of it).
We were looking for a café to catch up with some friends and it was getting hard to find a place still open on a Sunday after 6pm so we ended up settling for this place as we'd been walking for a while. We were already a bit skeptical. The waiters were nice to accommodate a table for our group of 4 to fit in so that was nice at least. The menu was very confusing, offering crepes, pancakes but also cheeseburger pizza or chicken biryani. Impossible to make everything at decent standards. The drinks were also confusing. A coffee with dates, condensed milk and pistachio is not Spanish coffee. I ordered a hot chocolate at the already insane price of 6.90 bcs the regular Nutella hot chocolate didn't actually have any chocolate. In any case £5-7 for a hot chocolate is already extremely expensive. It tasted really mediocre, just milk with a lot of sugar, cream and marshmallows on top. Really average. Most of it tasted similarly to what a £3 hot chocolate at pret or costa would get you (if not worse). My friends ordered similarly overpriced drinks. The service informed us they had a reservation and we needed to leave soon after barely an hour of having been there. I get it but when you make people make £7 for a hot chocolate it's a bit icky to basically kick them out. I really doubt they had a reservation too but that's beside the point. On top of that there's a 12.5% service charge that wasn't obvious anywhere in the menu or the receipt so the hot chocolate ended up being £7.76. £8 for a very mediocre hot chocolate is basically daytime robbery. Not even good coffee shops like Jolene or Origin charge this much for nice hot chocolate. If it had been decent, I would've minded less but it was really mediocre. The only toilet was behind the bar, which is also not ideal. There's also a mirror to give the illusion that the place is bigger, be careful not to walk into it while looking for...

Read moreAbsolute disappointment. We travel from Manchester to London quite often. We once tried Kula out and were amazed the first time! The owner was lovely, the waffles were like no other and the milkshakes were top. Since then, we have visited a few other times and it hasn't been up to the standard we first got.
On our most recent visit to London, we specifically went into Central just to grab some desserts from Kula. We ordered 3 milkshakes and a kinder bueno waffle.
The card machine was not working, we tried three different cards and they all declined - clearly there was something wrong with the machine. We then waited 20 minutes for the order to be made. The milkshakes had the consistency of water and did not taste at all like what we have previously had. The waffle was completely the wrong order! We ordered kinder and instead got ferrero rocher and strawberry. My husband has an allergy to nuts so thank god I noticed it was wrong! When we went back in to tell them it was the wrong order, they looked confused. The owner told the staff off and they said they would make another. We was not willing to wait another 20 minutes for this to be rectified.
We bought 4 items of dessert and spent £40. In Manchester this would have been less than half the price but we usually don't mind as we have previously LOVED the dessert at Kula.
My husband and brother in law had been the ones to go in whilst me and my sister waited in the car. They said the staff were very rude and took their time to even understand the order in the first place. I don't know whether it was because me and my sister are girls and the owner is usually very friendly with us when we go in. But for the price, time and effort we put to go into central specifically for dessert, we expected much more from Kula - safe to say we will definitely not...
