This by far has been the worst DoubleTree, worst Hilton, that I’ve stayed in recent memory. The positives are the location, which was great, and the staff, most of whom were nice enough, but between the 2 rooms I slept in during my 5 night stay, I cannot wait to leave. I was first in the accessible room (my mom needed it). The room is 100% accessible but has a lot of cons. It’s right on the lobby which means you hear the phone ringing nonstop, the car horns from the street honking, every suitcase dragged through the lobby (especially because the suitcase storage room is the room next door so it slams shut every time they use it), every kid that runs through screaming, everyone’s conversations, etc. We were in the room for my mom’s needs, but she went into the hospital after the first night so it was just me alone for a few nights. The door opens and shuts for someone to have time to get a wheel chair in and out but there’s no way to shut it manually when you come and go, which makes it a safety hazard If you are alone. It gave me the creeps every time. There’s a queen bed and a twin bed in the room and the queen bed felt like you were sleeping on a cardboard box. The twin was a bit better but beware there’s a wall on the side. I constantly rolled into and had to put a pillow there for my safety, but if I moved the pillow in my sleep I’d end up rolling over and I’d hit my head while I was sleeping. Additionally, there is not a single outlet to plug your phone or anything into by the TWIN bed. I finally switched to a higher QUIETER floor on my last night only to be woken up by someone smoking a cigarette in their room at 745am. The smoke and the smell were just seeping in. While that’s not the hotel’s fault, you can’t tell me there haven’t been other complaints by other guests? They also promised to come by with air freshener and they didn’t. Lastly, watch out for the transition between the room and the bathroom in the regular room. It’s raised and if you shuffle your feet you will bust your toes into it in the middle of the night, probably breaking one. Overall, find a different hotel for your trip because this one will just be a...
Read moreDouble Tree by Hilton at Marble Arch is probably the favourite amongst Bollywood celebrities. Had heard all this from our friends in Australia. When we booked our stay here, we never expected that this stay will turn out to be the best stay till date. This property is in next lane to the great Oxford street where you can get shops like Primark, M&S, the great Selfridges which is the first ever mall that came to the market, the Hyde Park and with an excellent connectivity by buses and trains. When the London weather is so chilling outside, Double Tree by Hilton at Marble Arch gives you the warmth and comfort inside. Starting from Lobby, the Reception gives you warm welcome and the Concierge guys like Syed bhai and Maroun are simply outstanding. They will help you with any information you need and try to tend your every need. Then comes the room facilities. The Rooms are like noise cancelling headphones, quiet and peaceful. They are fresh, well maintained, had fridge, hairdryer, sofa cum bed, the heating facility is awesome and the house keeping team is like bright fairies who keep cleaning the rooms every day for you. The breakfast is really good at Double Tree. The Chef I think is straight from MasterChef winners, the staff like Shubham and Druv wont let you miss your home with their caring touch. This expert team is well trained by none other than the mighty F&B Supervisor Nathaline Ahmed who by the way is the strong pillar of the F&B operations other than Chef. She has been in this profession since long and you can see her expertise in the way she operates with a smile that never leaves her stunning face. The Bartender Lawrence is so skilled at making cocktails and drinks, you will feel he is a magician and you are in a magic show. The owners and the staff have maintained the good name and status of this excellent property. I will never forget the service and insist my fellow travellers to come and experience real time hospitality, great prices, prime location, good quality food/drinks the next time you...
Read moreLocation is great next to Oxford Street, Hyde Park and Marble Arch. If location is your only focus and it's within budget, this place might be right for you.
However, I cannot believe this is Hilton DoubleTree and I am still scratching my head trying to understand why Hilton would allow it's brand to be associated with this hotel. Feels more like an Indian fake franchise of Hilton. The hotel is very run down and aged. Full of statues of Indian deities and with an intense incense smell everywhere. Not saying that's a bad thing, just saying it's unexpected for a Hilton.
They did have the room ready on arrival (probably because not many people chose to stay in this place) but have a charge of 25£ for early check in...despite the room being ready and having zero impact on them. And despite being a high tier Hilton Honours member.
They force you to pay the entire stay on arrival, which is very unusual. After checkin in and getting to the room I understood why. They probably have had several situations where people left the hotel as soon as they realised what the hotel was and refused to pay...now they force you to pay beforehand so you cannot leave.
The rooms are small, but that's expected for old London hotels. They were very dated though, with the batch tub portraying several dents and chipped areas. House keeping only showed up in the room around 5pm to make the room at which point it didn't make much sense...
The breakfast room is tiny and was completely packed. To such extent that they sat another person in my tiny table of two...too intimate for my taste and something that hasn't even happened in the worst hostels I have visited. The breakfast itself is poor, the staff was very poorly trained (although they were very proactive) and were overwhelmed despite being way too many of them.
I do well over 50 nights a year in Hilton Hotels...this has been the worst hotel I have stayed in a very, very long time...still cannot believe...
