Probably one of the worst brunch experiences I've ever had. First of all, the staff all look like they'd rather be anywhere but there, like you're doing them a favour by turning up at their café. There's lots of other places in London, if they don't enjoy what they do - maybe go elsewhere. Firstly, when you go up and order, the woman behind the till looked clueless and once I'd paid, it was too much. When I queried this, she said oh I just added service charge. This was something she didn't even bother to ask me and also adding it before you've even experienced any service is strange. I understand why they sneakily add it beforehand and that's because service is honestly rubbish. They all should take some hospitality lessons. I ordered the Med breakfast, which was distinctly average -.and the poached egg I ordered was this tiny rock hard lump. The egg itself did not look fresh or healthy, it must have been frozen. When I asked for this to be taken back, it took forever. I asked the waiter and he told us he's sorry but the chef was "angry and making lots of mistakes today" The egg that came back was this watery jelly mess, it was so embarrassing, I would be ashamed serving that to anyone. If the chef is unable to poach an egg, perhaps he should take some culinary lessons or they should remove it off the menu altogether. All in all - a terrible experience, made worse by the rude and depressing looking staff. Thanks for...
Read moreEdit: after coming here over 20 times and each time saying I can’t eat gluten I would expect the staff to know or at least ask if I have any allergy or intolerance. I came in 4 and 5 days ago, and ordered a “green omelette” which unbeknownst to me contained “not even a tablespoon of flour” which was not mentioned at all on the menu and as someone who’s been celiac for 14 years I know what things normally have gluten or not. My body always takes a while to react so the first time I ate it I thought I was just paranoid, but a few bites into the second one I knew something was wrong and I went to ask if there’s gluten in it. I was told I should have asked and that it was a “pancake style omelette” but the word ‘pancake’ was nowhere to be seen on the menu. I’m still incredibly sick and bloated, unable to concentrate or sleep and my throat has closed up. I’ve had to miss the rest of the week of an expensive course I came to London to attend as well as a waste of all my expenses of flights and accommodation coming from America and the thousands (not an exaggeration) of dollars I’ve spent at the naturopath for remedies to heal my gut and intestine from the damage gluten has done.
December review: Delicious food, lovely staff and the best coffee I’ve gotten in Shoreditch by far. Been visiting London for 3 weeks and Kybelle has...
Read moreReally expensive and not worth it.
First of all: the service was bad. They kept clearing dishes away before our party was finished with their food, and I got the vibe they wanted us to leave (despite the fact we spent almost £100 on food for THREE people while there).
Second: the service charge. This isn't clear. They DO mention in small print at the very bottom of the menu they charge this, but its certainly not clear at checkout. The screen wasn't facing towards us, so we couldn't see when we purchased that they'd added this charge. It wouldn't be so bad if the service was actually good. But the service was bad AND we ordered standing up. Sorry but what is this charge for? Oh, a reason for the business to put responsibility for employee wages back on the customer. Great.
The food was good, but definitely not worth the high cost. There are better places that you can eat in Shoreditch for less cost and a nicer atmosphere - recommend going...
