Unbelievable, “funny” and upsetting!

I am, a long time frequent customer* This is why be Italian 🇮🇹 sometimes is “VERGOGNOSO” I spent a couple of months travelling and just back to London..yesterday I came back to buy some biscuits before going to my friend living around the corner . I bought 10 “baci di dama” my favourite treats, and I paid with contactless without checking and/or pay attention… During my way I got the message from the card and I realised that something was wrong as the price was more then doubled since September.. I ask to my friend to go back to the shop to double check as all the staff was new (genuinely thinking about a mistake) HERE THE SURPRISING RESULT: the lady (new) said yes the price for 1 “bacio di dama”changed from 30p each to 75p each 😱😱😱 Obviously if you buy one or two biscuits maybe with something else you cannot realise but this is an increase of the price of exactly 150 %.

AUMENTATO DI UNA VOLTA E MEZZA !!!

I actually don’t know how a long time business can found the courage to increase The price in 4 months of 150 % And here again I repeat 150%, this is more then double!

30 cent ~ 75 cent

Ridiculous and frustrating…

PLEASE be clear, be honest and put the prices VISIBLE TO ALL CUSTOMERS!!!!

Obviously an increase is tolerable but 150 % more is a proper scam and cannot be considered “increase of price”

I am really curious about the rest.. Have you increased also the price of the coffee of 150%...

I was disappointed with my experience at La Piccola today. I came in on my tight lunch break (nobody’s fault) and saw the very delicious looking food displayed.

I asked the man behind the counter what the different types of pasta were, he asked if I’d be eating in or taking away - I said I can sit in and he told me to take a seat and the waitress would come to me. The waitress came to my table and asked what I’d like, I asked if they had a menu as there was nothing to reference. She gave me the menu and I asked about the hot food which was not stated on the menu - the pasta in particular. She said I would have to go up to the counter to ask. I decided to just get a sandwich to save time and picked one of the focaccia sandwiches. She explained that they are out of focaccia but they could make it in a panini, I agreed. I waited for 10/15 mins and as I only had 15 mins left of my lunch I went back to the counter and asked to have it to go. I waited a few more minutes before being handed the sandwich.

Below is a photo of said sandwich, which was about the size of my hand; the bread was stale and crumbling (sandwich cost almost £10). The latte I had ordered, was also not very pleasant.

All in all, I think there’s much to improve on with staff, process and...

I was just served an under-cooked still pinkish chicken Milanese. Not only is this incredibly dangerous and a total breach of food safety regulations, I also received no apology from the staff (I actually ended up out of politeness even saying sorry for being a picky customer), and was only given a partial refund after having to request it. Having gone to this Italian deli for years (since I was a child) I’m shocked and disappointed by this and will definitely not be returning. When I originally mentioned this to staff I was given a shrug and told they buy them pre-made and then microwave - either the microwave was not properly working or the chicken was not microwaved enough. This is not the hallmark of high quality Italian food, and sadly this place must have somewhere down the line lost its way - the safety of food must be an absolute...

As an Italian visiting London often, finding a place that truly captures the essence of Italy can be a challenge, but La Piccola Deli nails it. From the moment you step in, you're greeted with the warm, welcoming atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. The ingredients are top-notch, just like you'd find in any good deli back in Italy—fresh, authentic, and full of flavor. The staff here are exceptionally friendly and cool, making the whole experience even better. The vibe is just right, too—casual yet distinctly Italian, the perfect spot to reconnect with the real Italian mood and flavor. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a genuine and generally cool taste of Italy in London! Italian radio streaming? That awesome detail that pushes it all to 11!

Disappointing to say, (as this was quite a nice little local deli, which I have used for over a decade) but quality has gone down recently. Not to say about the staff. Let me give you an example...I bought some prosciutto crudo, the only one available was the Parma one, the San Daniele one has not been available for a few weeks now”, let me tell you it was almost like raw met, questioned staff both in English and Italian and the only thing she could say it’s “crudo”. Obviously she could not comprehend either of those languages. The fridge was also displaying a caciocavallo that had mould on. Lastly read expire dates, as you might be bringing home something that will expire that same day.
