Where to start? The waiter was friendly at first, but things took a turn when we asked if we could have our drinks with plant-based milk. His attitude shifted, and I felt judged, as though I were being a demanding and difficult customer. For the record, I’m neither vegan nor vegetarian—I simply enjoy the taste of oat milk with a good matcha!
When we ordered the French toast, he seemed visibly disappointed and even asked if we had actually read the menu. He mentioned that the chef wouldn’t be happy since it’s not a common order. To be honest, the French toast turned out to be delicious, and the chef should feel proud of their work!
However, when the food arrived, the waiter made a sarcastic remark about how we wanted plant-based milk in our drinks but ordered French toast, which contains milk. I explained that I digest cooked milk better, but his comment left a sour impression.
Overall, the food was great, but the service felt...
Read moreWe stumbled upon Fait Maison while walking around Kensington. It looked like exactly what we were looking for - somewhere local, independent and with good coffee. Having checked that the flat white came in small(ish) cups unlike the usual Milky Sloppe we ordered two plus a slice of pistachio & coconut cake. The latter was fantastic, rich, moist and delicious. The coffee however, despite the good crema, had virtually no taste of coffee whatsoever. We pointed this out and asked for an additional shot of espresso to share between the two. The request was met with some surprise and no apology. To add insult, we found that £1.80 was added to an already expensive bill for this. In true English fashion we did not say anything but added Fait Maison to an already extensive list of disappointing London coffee shops to avoid. It's not our job to tell coffee shops how to make a decent coffee. If you go there, enjoy the cake but don't...

I had lunch here with my baby, and while the food was delicious, the service was extremely disappointing. The staff seemed more interested in chatting among themselves than attending to customers. When I asked if they had a changing table, I was told they didn’t. I then asked if I could change my baby in the restroom, but was informed the bathrooms were out of service. Finally, when I asked if I could change her in the main dining area, the staff member said no without offering any alternatives or showing much concern.
When I paid, I expressed my frustration about not being able to change my baby, especially given that the restrooms were closed. The staff member simply explained that it was because people eat in that room, but I felt her response lacked empathy or any effort to make the situation better.
Overall, I was really upset by how the staff handled things—they didn’t seem to...
