What a let down. The most unprofessional staff I had ever dealt with in fact If you consider the far over priced menu. I recommend highly to stay away from Royal China. When we first enter the restaurant we were asked if we had a reservation we denied since it was a last minute decision the manger (a lady unbelievable unfriendly) rolled her eyes before fetching the card and asking us to follow her. Once we set down we ordered some water with ice water came... with no ice I had to ask 3 times for the ice until it finally arrived. One of us took some individual dishes whilst myself and a friend had the £33 set menu. Whilst waiting for our food to arrive we noticed that other guest (Asian guests) that had arrived far after us had already finished their Starter before we had even received ours. The table next to us actually asked to have the Main as take away as they had been waiting for too long. When we finally received our Main my friend who had ordered a different dish had to wait an additional 15 min for his main to come our food had gone cold by the time his food had finally arrived. All dishes were filled with vegetables and onion you got look for a while until finding some fish or meat. The Highlight of the evening was the "fruit platter" they had advertised with the set menu which turned out to be some sort of white jelly with tin-fruit. At that point I was so frustrated I just asked for the bill after shouting through the restaurant as the waiter would not pay attention to as what so ever. When he brought the bill I asked where the fruit platter would be since this was supposed to come with the menu. As he was not able to explain himself I asked for the manager. After at least a 10 min discussion why the white pot jelly is not considered as a fruit plate she granted us a 10% discount off the bill. We agreed to it as there was no point of talking any further about it. When presented with the final bill we had been given a 12.5% service charge which made the bill go to an even higher price. I explained that we are not paying for this horrible service we had been provided with. After denying the service charge several times the insisted that we pay it. I suggested that we can pay the bill right now with NO service charge Or I see myself leaving the Restaurant. The manager agreed to it shouting through out the whole restaurant. We settled the bill and left. The food: 3 out of 5 The staff 0 out of 5 It takes a lot for me to leave a review on something. I worked for many years in the same industry. Trust me when I Recommend you to stay away. This place is not even worth it if you do not mind...
Read moreAtrocious service yet they charge 13% service charge, they are cheeky that they then try to collect another tip when you pay with card (they hand you the card terminal asking how much tip you want to pay), plus it's overpriced. Service staff very very rude. One example is my husband and I told the waitress we will pay with card for bill but will give cash for the tip. When she took our payment she left and we left the cash on the table and started heading out the door. She mustn't have understood because as we were about to walk out, the thin tall male waiter called out to us from behind the bar "if you're not going to leave a tip, don't come back". This is completely unbelievable considering that we are (were) regular customers. When I told him the money is on the table, he then waived us off saying "ok go go" instead of apologising. This is not the only incident. Staff literally make you feel like you are a nuisance and you shouldn't come. One time a lady was sitting at a table next to us and told the waitress it was a little cheeky to ask for a tip on the card machine after they are already collecting 13% service charge - the young waitress rolled her eyes which the lady didn't see but I did as I was facing them. This restaurant is lucky that they are the only Chinese resto in Fulham and so people still go there. Considering the service this place should be shut down. Management need to look at this and take corrective measure as the place actually stresses you out when you go, instead of having a...
Read moreEating out is supposed to feel a bit special and make you happy but today’s experience did everything but that. We arrived at noon when the restaurant opened. One young lady at the counter , the only person there , did not acknowledge our existence. Not a nod, no hello , no nothing . We sat down and she plonked two menus at the table and said nothing . She then took quite a while to come back and take the order . I had to call her over ( we only had 1 hour parking) . Even after letting her know that we didn’t have much time, she still didn’t come over for a good few minutes and she was grumpy and made us feel like we were a burden rather than paying customers . After ordering I used the restrooms and it was very shabby and felt scummy and dirty. Back up the stairs , pork puffs were served …. Cold and chewy . Nearly inedible. Luckily the rest of the food was delicious but the experience was ruined by this very unpleasant young lady . In these pressing times, I don’t understand how any restaurant feel they can afford to be so unpleasant to their customers . We’ve been coming to royal China for many many years , mostly the Bayswater one. But now that that’s closed we have to make do with Fulham . We were always treated very well in Bayswater and it feels really sad that we’ve lost both that wonderful place and atmosphere and instead got a shabby grumpy little depressing place in Fulham . Three stars just because the food was great (apart from yucky pork puffs). The rest was a...
