Longshot Coffee â Aldgate Review
Atmosphere & Vibe (4.5/5) If youâre an 80s kid, Longshot Coffee is bound to trigger some nostalgic joyâMacho Man and Tin Cup posters immediately set the tone. Itâs got a laid-back, slightly retro feel that doesnât try too hard, and it works. A space with character, but not at the expense of quality.
Service (4.5/5) The barista was attentive and welcoming, offering insight into the two roasts availableâone described as robust, the other mellow. Both, in my experience, lean toward the bold side, which is exactly what I like.
Coffee Quality (4/5) Ordered the usual flat white, using my own cupâtaking the already reasonable ÂŁ3.20 price down to ÂŁ2.90, making it one of the cheapest in the area. But even ignoring the price, the coffee holds its own: ⢠Both roasts pack a punch, with bold, slightly dark notes. ⢠Velvety foam rounds it out beautifully, delivering a well-balanced cup. ⢠On one visit, the cup leaned a bit sour, hinting at an extraction issue, but still better than many flat whites Iâve had nearby.
Value for Money (5/5) At ÂŁ2.90 with a reusable cup, this is unbeatable in the areaâespecially for coffee with this level of flavour and consistency. Even without the discount, ÂŁ3.20 is a fair deal for a flat white that delivers on flavour and texture.
Overall Rating: 4.5/5 Longshot Coffee punches above its weightâoffering bold, flavourful coffee, great service, and a dash of 80s charm. Itâs quickly becoming a favourite of mine, especially when Iâm in the mood for something with a little more bite.
Would I return? Absolutely. This could...

Various movie and pop culture posters adorn the walls and random second-hand furniture is strangely arranged around the room â it felt more like a friend's warehouse lounge than a cafe.
There was a random fridge with a few sandwiches and things that really didn't take my fancy â they looked like Tesco type sandwiches and snacks.
And the coffee. Which is the main reason I visited. I had a flat white, and it wasn't bad. Came in the right sized glass/cup and had nice latte art. Good temperature too â hot but also immediately drinkable. The taste was peculiar, it was perfectly drinkable but it didn't taste quite right, maybe the espresso machine needed a good clean? I know the bean they use well so I was expecting a familiar taste, it wasn't. Will try again and see if it's any different the...
Read moreDecent coffee in a 90's-school-trip-hostel environment. Sofas look like they've been found on the street, and we arent talking shabby chic but rather looks more like a parasite party. The flooring has the rubber surface found in warehouses for softer standing, and easier yet replacement thanks to the puzzle pieces when a limb is severed due to some inevitable tragic misadventure. The prices for the snacks and food is good albiet limited in scope. Staff are friendly enough, but the only reason to come back would be to further behold their bizarre amalgamation of posters and ecclectic music playing from a pair of logitec...
