Writing this review while going back home. Went with my husband for his birthday. We had Agra style aalo tikki and kolkata chukandari chops. Luckily the waiter suggested that which came out nice. But the Agra style aalo tikki was so soggy not crispy at all. Please a big no for the agra style tikkis. If you have ever tried the delhi tikkis you won’t go for this. Its too soggy and not crispy at all unlike the menu says.
And not surprisingly I ordered dal makhani and my husband ordered kadai murgh. I was so happy as I love dal makhani a lot. But yes it was soooo disappointing, i mean I have no idea if the chefs have ever tried after preparing the dish. Dal makhani doesnt have a single kidney bean in it and doesn’t taste makhani and fresh at all. If you want to try some great dal makhani go try Mala in Canary Wharf or even Taste of India in East Ham serves awesome dal makhani. And no comments on Chicken coz I am vegetarian but I did tried the gravy a bit and yes not surprisingly its so blend. So we got all take away as we can’t finish those foods. And yes how can I not mention to double check your bill before you pay as I ordered a Mango Juice and they brought me a bill with Mango Lassi with price difference ofcourse.
Lastly, yes for the ambience if you are looking to have a nice time don't sit by the side of the glass doors as you will be entertained by big fat flies all the time which you cant ignore.
Only thing I liked was the service the guys were nice but unfortunately I have to cut the service charge coz I couldn’t cut the dishes prices and my bad I didnt carry any cash to leave a tip.
Reading your reply the first thing I would say is please pronounce my name correctly atleast. Always a name starts with a capital letter henceforth my name is ienfa not Lenfa. Fair enough with Dal makhani but than don't say it dal makhani if you dont know the real recipe. You can’t change a classic recipe until u say its fusion. Feeling sorry that rather than excepting the mistake I...
Read moreFood (8/10): The food here is good. The shaami kebab was surprisingly good. The seekh kebab not so much. Papri chaat was decent, although not the best I've had by a long shot. Try Indigo at Westfield White City for a great Aloo Papdi chaat. The chicken karachi was decent.not incredibly spicy but just right. I wouldn't class this place as authentic Indian. I personally feel that Est India down the road has nicer food and is generally more spacious and feels less crowded.
Price (Avg per head): A bit on the average to above average price point. Given the location this is expected. Approximately £25-30 per head. Add beverages and it will be pushed up.
Service (8/10): Overall the service here was really prompt. The waiters were very attentive and would swipe things from the table swiftly and were quick to serve our food. This, however, was a bit distracting in my opinion, as in the middle of conversations I'd find a waiter reach over and grab my cutlery, plates etc, and I'd have to politely thank them for it. It felt a little rushed and whilst I understand this is a small restaurant, I couldn't help but feel that they needed to turn tables quickly. Not something I blame them for, but not something I like when trying to have an evening meal. I don't like feeling rushed. Otherwise the service was very good. The waiters were polite and asked us about each dish that was served.
Atmosphere/ Occasion: The seating is cramped, as the restaurant is small. In the evenings it can get busy and because of the small size of the restaurant this causes a great deal of noise. It's difficult to hear yourself think, which in my books half defeats the purpose of going out for a meal. You want to be able to socialise without having to contend with other people's loud voices. Overall this restaurant is good, the toilets are very cramped and semi clean. Overall I'd go to Est India over this place any day. It has an overall...
Read moreAwful! Staff we're rude and had no idea what they were doing. We had a starter in which we were expected to hold our menu's as the waiter had no where to put them, I kindly said to him (young waiter) we don't need these anymore as we are ready to order thanks. To which he then went and said to his colleague don't bother with them they're not ordering food! So after 10 mins of being ignored I had to get up and ask to order. I ordered the Chicken Korma as I can't eat spicy food. The presentation was lovely when it arrived but sadly very spicy and kicked off my acid reflux instantly. I kindly said the waitress that it was lovely but could the chef possibly put some more coconut or yogurt in to cool it down as I can't eat it. Over 45 mins later and after 3 visits to the kitchen the waitress brought back my cold meal. My partner has finished ages ago and it just wasn't enjoyable by that stage. The waitress kept coming back saying the chef couldn't do anything and I just had to 'deal with it'. This was extremely poor service which I refused to accept. I hate complaining and I always try to be friendly in these situations, I also asked for a water refill over 5 times and this never happened either. There were only 5 other people so they were hardly rushed off their feet. When we went to pay a service charge of £5 was added. I'm all for rewarding good service but I really wasn't then! So I asked them to take it off to which they replied it was mandatory. This was a complete joke and I had to get the manager down who quickly told the staff how stupid they were for saying it's mandatory. The meal was overpriced and the staff ruined it in my opinion. I won't be going back and I suggest you look for a more friendly service yourself before you waste your...
