Absolutely brilliant day out idea, we was gifted this experience and it was honestly the best virgin media gift package me or my fiancé have ever used. The selection was 10/10, the place itself was super unique and filled top to toe in cool original artworks and it was just so incredibly cosy. Best sofa I've ever sat on in a restaurant, suuuuuper squishy and comfy. Each table is also divided a little so leaning back you're completely secluded as are the surrounding guests in the other booths. Great music and theme overall! And now, don't let me forgot to mention Melissa... My god. Probably the coolest, sweetest most accomodating host I've ever encountered, my fiancé agreed. I feel like we was learning loads about MAP, the menu and without trying to sound cheesy, ourselves. I learnt my new favourite cocktail elements because of this awesome afternoon tea and Mel. My partner even got a super delicious custom made mocktail coz she didn't want anything alcoholic and she was pleasantly surprised too! Honestly can't rate this place high enough. Deserves an 11/10. S-tier++ everything was perfect for us and I get the feeling that's legitimately just their standard at MAP, thanks Mel and thanks MAP Maison for such a lovely afternoon tea. Better than the Swan's, better than the royal garden hotel (and my sister used to work there so we got free extras too) MAP is better than all of them combined. I bet the other staff are all just as lovely and I'll definitely bee keeping my eye out for offers from them in future even though I live literally like a hundred miles away. Did I already mention this place is top tier S.S+ Maybe...
Read moreIt was my first visit to this venue and i was very impressed.
There were many positives.
The warm greeting, the atmosphere, the music wasn't too loud where i couldn't hear myself talk, the seating area was lovely and i liked the flexibility where we could sit anywhere we wanted. The food was absolutely perfect! The prices, the quantity, the food was served hot and not lukewarm like many posh and more expensive bars/restaurants. The constant refills of water and ice, extra sauce on request... incredible!
There were a few negatives.
Waited quite a while for the food. i could overlook it in the end as the food has zero issues. The lack of soft drink options was the biggest problem for me. Like many bars, alcohol is a main USP (unique selling point) but as someone who doesn't drink alcohol, i want to feel like i have just as many options and i didn't. There were 12 listed cocktalis and only 2 mocktails, there were no juices, only coke, lemonade and another fizzy drink i couldn't remember. More variety is needed! I ordered a second round of food. When the food order was taken, we were expecting the table to be cleared prior to the food coming and it wasn't. The food came and i had to ask for the table to be cleared first with new plates and cutlery. It was a slight lack of attention to detail but i think that can improve by the time i visit again.
Overall, it is still a 5/5 experience with minor things to fix. Brilliant place for my birthday meal and i...
Read moreCame for afternoon tea and unfortunately was disappointed. I was looking for a more interesting experience than what one would get in a central London hotel but sadly this wasn’t it. The food looked nicer than it was - the bruschettas needed more flavor punch (seasoning was too mild) and the desserts were pure sugar. The profiterole was indeed lovely but the red velvet cake was sticky, and the macarons were super sweet they almost gave us a sugar rush. Very one-dimensional…
Nonetheless we ate everything up as we were starving after waiting for over 45 minutes for the food. There must’ve been some mess up with our booking or someone overlooked the fact that we were coming as we were told we were early (although we arrived on time as reserved) and the pre-booked afternoon tea package took very long to reach us.
After about 40 minutes without any update, we asked the server if there was any news on our food and she got quite defensive, explaining that there was only one person working the kitchen and they were doing their best. We appreciate this happens but there’s nicer ways to appease waiting customers, eg. apologizing in advance, maybe offering a nibble, communicating on ETA more often etc.
Overall not a great experience. Maybe this is meant to be a cocktail bar only… Other patrons’ drinks...
