My wife was passing by and politely requested a fork to help feed our 15 month old child. The response she received was unexpectedly dismissive a stark contrast to the welcoming atmosphere we'd expect from an establishment like this. This left her feeling shocked.
As residents of this generally friendly area, we were very disappointed. While we can't know the individual's motivation, the nature of the response made us question whether my wife's outward ethnicity played a role. The nearby bakery happily provided a metal fork without hesitation when she asked there amazing people.
We hope this feedback prompts reflection. Basic courtesy, especially towards a parent with an infant, should be a given for any reputable business.
Your response suggests that my wife was upset because there was no fork, NO. To reiterate, it was the dismissive attitude and complete lack of kindness that shocked my wife. It costs nothing to be kind, and refusals can also be made in a polite manner.
Thank you for the offer, we have Batch Baby across the road where nobody is treated...

Ordered a single shot late, a aussie staff member mentioned that that was weak, and I said ‘yes it is and that I can’t handle any more caffeine than that’ (as I am diagnosed ADHD & ASD) and he then called me a ‘’P*ssy’’. He meant it as a joke, but it wasn’t appreciated. You don’t know me to make that kind of joke. The whole thing made me feel uncomfortable and disrespected to be honest. All unnecessary.

So I had to take it back, especially after being called a P*ssy for not drinking what they felt was ‘real coffee’ A female told me that ‘that’s how they serve the almond milk’, this was explained before she had even checked the temperature of my drink. Honestly it was all a very negative experience.
I have been drinking almond lattes for YEARS from Australia to London, and I can tell the difference between a hot drink and warm/cold drink.
It also cost me £3.90 which is the most I’ve ever paid, to date.
I honestly would...
Read moreTwo fellow dads and I have a weekly coffee here on a Saturday morning while our sons play cricket. We have enjoyed our flat whites every week and have chatted to the normally friendly staff. This morning we came in and I ordered our three usual drinks. As I was being served I suddenly got aggressively reprimanded by the barista for being rude. "A good morning is not too much to ask, you don't need to be rude". I apologised as that certainly had not been my intention. Perhaps I had felt I was enough of a regular and had therefore not been as effusive with the pleasantries. But to be spoken to like that was completely unacceptable. We won't be back. That's nine coffees a week gone. Can cafes really afford to treat their customers like...
