The main reason I like Golders Green is I could eat authentic Japanese food there at very reasonable price…Forgive a foodie…the eating issue, how important it is! And now I get more reasons: a transport hub, lots of Japanese and Korean supermarkets, Jewish bakery shops, Golders Hill Park and diverse coffee shops. Actually, this area has historically been renowned as a home of London’s middle-class Jewish community, but in recent years new communities, especially Korean and Japanese, have been moving here.

I did not like the ciabatta that was used for my sandwich, as I suspect it was just the cheap supermarket ciabatta that I, myself, have bought before (and didn’t buy again). My veggie sandwich was also bland; could they not have seasoned the vegetables? I tried to add salt at the table, but the salt grinder was not fastened properly, causing it to come apart. I ended up with salt all over my sandwich. I tried to remove the crystals, since they were large, but it didn’t really work. In hindsight, I should’ve told the staff to see if they would remedy my situation, but at the time, I was already unhappy about the food and didn’t want more of the same unexciting sandwich. I did tell the staff member about the loose salt grinder as I was paying, but he let out a laugh and made an unproductive, uncaring comment, which further added to the...
Read moreIt is a rare thing to find a place in London that delivers the three essentials of good everyday dining; a genuine warm & friendly welcome, professional service and delicious quality home cooked food. I have been working long hours in the area for the past few weeks and the owners are now like family. Everyday they make, or should I say create, delicious and interesting lunches with fresh ingredients. I have enjoyed couscous, shakshuka, baked lamb and grilled chicken salad with halloumi and avocado, drizzled in delicious olive oil. Prices are more than reasonable when considering the quality and service. Today I had chicken soup the old fashioned way, made by a chef whose dedication and passion for his art is truly expressed in his food. This is a review but also a thank you for your care and dedication, and for taking care of me and my belly. Just...
