This afternoon my husband and I went to Moxies' Fish Bar in Western Hampstead. We ordered 2 Haddock and chips, a mushy peas, and a rice as we were recommended by the owner. When they served us our food, I could instantly taste fish was not Haddock instead they served us Cod. I told the guy who he was serving us BUT after 5-8 minutes of waiting he came and told us "THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE". I was so frustrated!! They spoiled our launch!! If they would have told us they didn't have had Haddock, we could have ordered something else or left. Worst of all, when my husband went to pay. The young boy behind the till charched my husband £20.05 for Haddock, Matzo, whuch should have been for Cod. When I told the young boy why? He said, Haddock and Cod are the same price, which is wrong. He charged us for 2 service charges plus other items. There is no price on the receipt apart from code which has no meaning. I have neaver been ripped off at a restaurant like this. It was my first time and it will be my last time at this restaurant. I will make sure all my friends and the family know about this place and I will ensure that they never order anythink from them.
In respond to your rude replay. If you were so concerned that your staff member was traumatised then, as the owner you should have dealt with my complaint yourself instead of hiding in your office and escaping the consequences of issues you created.
If the boy was so traumatised, then why was he able to happily charged us more for the fish that we were not served? Also, he was very ok for me to give my truthful review about your dishonest business. You only had one member of staff in your restaurant. I returned my fish to your member of staff and asked for the food that I ordered - “Haddock” instead you asked your staff to come and tell me that “THAT IS ALL WE HAVE” SO! Who is the aggressive one? Me or you, Mr owner?!
According to you, all of your fish are being delivered from Scotland BUT what happened on that day? You were still waiting on the Haddock delivery, which is why you served the cod instead?? Instead of lying and trying to con your customers, just be honest and say you don’t have haddock- you would have saved everyone the hassle.
I'm not as dishonest as you. I didn't eat my food and I gave it back to the staff. I paid for the food and more than what I should have been charged as you can see from your so-called receipt. Unfortunately, there isn't an option for ZERO star which you deserve otherwise you would have had two ZERO star from us.
My mistake was on that day, I should have taken a picture of the COD and take it way in a takeaway box as an evidence to report you to food trading standard and the Camden Council. Then, you would not be so rude and dishonest in your reply instead of apologising for your poor service and action.
You should be ashamed...
Read moreWorst fish and chips I have ever had They have the cheek to charge you for tartare sauce and they don't even deliver it. The chips were cold old and horrible. Cod was soggy. There is a fish and chip shop just up the road from these lot, do yourself a favour and dodge this place like a bullet and go somewhere else. £30 for fish and chips. Curry sauce looks and smelt like sick. The peas tasted of- nothing. The worst thing though is the fact this shop thought it was fine to deliver the disgusting food to me. I ordered from here through deliveroo and this is the worst order ever from deliveroo I've had and that's saying something because I've had hundreds of orders on deliveroo. This stands out as the most disgusting food I have ever seen delivered to me. To give a gage I would rather starve to death or eat dirt then ever give these lot my money again. Absoloutely disgusting. Also to the owner of this shop : don't reply to this review trying to have some pathetic excuse. People work hard for their money. I spend £30 for fish and chips and you can't even cook me fresh chips. You can't even get the order right. Don't bother writing back to this review. You...
Read moreAfter moving around the corner recently, I tried Moxies as my local chippy with high hopes. It might have just been me catching them on an off-night, but when I went for a takeout fish and chips, I was very disappointed.
There was nobody in the restaurant, which felt eerie, but I went for a regular fish and chips with curry sauce. The price was a little much, if you ask me - even in West Hampstead. It took a solid 20 minutes, so I waited outside and made a phone call. Once I went back in, the young man was thoroughly disinterested and handed me a cardboard box with a cup of sauce.
When I got home (500 yards away), I found the portion to be very small. The chips had clearly been cooked for a while and just spooned in - they were lukewarm. The fish itself was over-battered and dark in colour. Finally, the curry sauce was fully cold.
Unfortunately, I won't be visiting again and have had better fish and chips for a similar price eating in at the chain pub...
