As a vegetarian, Pham House has truly become my favorite Vietnamese place in London due to my proximity to it, but also the feeling of community, friendliness, and homeliness it evokes every time I have been to it.
As usual, I will be sharing my review in detail on FAVS scale below (35/40)and they get 5 yums 😋😋😋😋😋: Flavors - 9/10, this is one of the few places that is not afraid of sticking to authentic flavors, yet caring what their guests are experiencing. Simple example - they removed chili oil from condiments as many guests didn't know what dishes or quantity to use it in, and instead included a milder hot sauce that goes and tastes much better in most dishes. Fair warning as some may find the foot rich in fat, and my favorite dishes are Spring rolls, pancake, Pho, Banh Mi, fried rice, and literally any noodle dish. Their selection of homemade non-alcoholic drinks is impressive, and they even have Hanoi and Saigon beers from Vietnam. Ambiance - 8/10, while this hole-in-the-wall can use some polish and nicer upholstery, the large photos on the walls transport you to Vietnam and you can't help but look at them with appreciation of the love that went into curating them. Value - 8/10, most dishes are appropriately priced for a decent high street restaurant serving unique food and you are able to enjoy an amazing meal for a family of 2-3 for under £50. Service - 10/10, this is one of the rarest occasions that I have found the wait staff is generally friendly, helpful, and fast 👏on a consistent basis. Mind you, that I have generally been there on a non-peak time on both weekends...
Read morePham House is a friendly, popular local Vietnamese restaurant, which has done very well on a road which isn’t the easiest to thrive in (whilst not being a bad spot either). Perhaps the closure a while back of the other Vietnamese place helps, but certainly, Pham House is often busy.
Food was simple and enjoyable, my prawn and noodle dish being substantial and pleasingly seasoned. Prawns became a touch overcooked, but I like my plates to be served piping hot (which it was) so perhaps this was a factor. Partner’s broth style dish was fine, but fairly plain, not a large amount of flavour or spice going on. The sauce options on the table were great; one a sticky, sweet thing, the other a hot red sauce. Side of aubergine was a decent portion, and interestingly cooked – somewhere between braised and fried. Veg spring rolls were nice as well.
All in all, enjoyed the visit, service was excellent, but we would like a little more wow-factor. That said, it’s very fairly priced so you can grab a nice bottle of...
Read moreI don't know how all the glowing reviews are happening but I tried this restaurant about 2 years ago and it was dissapointing then and recently I gave it another go and never again. Four of us went. (Flatmates- 1 boy & 3 girls) 3 Phos 1 stir fried chicken noodles. Phos were extraordinarily bland tiny amount of herbs - just mint , chilli and bean sprouts. The noodle dish was tiny , I joked with with one of the girls that it was just as well she wasn't hungry and she just rolled her eyes. The service is also quite funny, wherever you turn up they always ask you if you've booked even if the restaurant is half empty, which it was - and we were told this time we had to leave within the hour, like they were doing us a favour by just being there. Cute looking restaurant, lots of people must be conned by this(my flatmate looked it up and wanted to try it), avoid if you...
