I'd never been to a Nandos before and it took a moment for me to get my bearings. Once I'd worked out how they do things there I placed my order. The staff were friendly and helpful and explained the different levels of spiciness you could choose. I've never been a fan of having a burning mouth so I stuck with a medium hot sauce. The food was very nice with good sized potions. My wife, who normally only eats like a mouse, demolished her food quickly and said she enjoyed every bite. She looked very full afterwards! My chicken was a little on the dry side but not so bad as to really affect my enjoyment of it. My daughter also enjoyed her's. She'd been asking to visit Nandos for days and the food was entirely worth it.
Both my wife and daughter are vegetarian. My wife in particular has been vegetarian for the past 40 years. She said that the veggie options offered by Nandos were the best she'd seen for a long time. This explains why she and my daughter were so enthused about the restaurant.
So, having said that, why only three stars? Though the staff were very engaging and friendly they seemed a bit chaotic in their approach to service. They forgot to give us the starter we'd ordered, so I had to queue up to ask for it as there was only one person working the till. When I got back to the table the food had arrived, but we had no cutlery. Again, I had to queue up to ask someone to get us some knives and forks. The staff responded quickly to each request and rectified each situation efficiently but these things are pretty basic and not the sort of thing that any restaurant should be getting wrong.
The toilets were grubby but not badly so however, the toilet paper had not been restocked. This made things awkward.
That equals two deducted stars from me, which is a shame. If they'd been on the money with these fairly minor complaints I'd be more than happy to give them a full five star rating. I will be back though so,...
Read moreAt 2.10pm today i visited your Nandos in Beckenham for my sons birthday today .upon entering I asked Felix if I could bring a cake and have it brought out after we eat, he said yes. At 3pm I spoke to Felix and asked him if he could bring out the cake , he said yes. 5 minuts went by and he put 2 plates on the table even though there were 4 of us and said he was looking for more plates. 5 minutes later one of my sons couldn't wait any longer and left. I patiently waited and waited till I had, had enough of waiting as my son who's birthday it was also wanted to leave, by this time 20 minutes had gone by. I went up to Felix and told him I wasn't happy that its been 20 minutes and still no cake. he stated at 1st that he was waiting for other staff memebers to join in a birthday song, he then told me he has been busy. basically tried to fob me off with excuss after excuse. i told him to get my cake and yes i did swear as I was extremely angry what he had ruined my sons birthday meal but i didnt swear at him i swore out alond... all he had to do was go to the fridge and get my cake which when he did it took no more that 30 seconds . he didn't have to make or cook it just get it and bring it to the table .. absolute joke. To top it off when I asked for the manager I was told he was the manager .... I definatly won't be eating in that nandos again ....thanks nandos for ruining my sons birthday meal . no pictures and no birthday cake as it was still in the uponed box when it was...
Read moreIf I could give this place zero stars, I absolutely would. The single star is solely for the manager, Khalil, who seems to be the only competent, kind and hardworking person there.
The rest of the management is an absolute disgrace. It's appalling that Matt and Nina frequently show up to work visibly intoxicated, which is not only unprofessional but also a clear violation of workplace safety and conduct laws. This blatant disregard for the law creates an unsafe and uncomfortable environment for everyone.
The state of cleanliness is equally atrocious. The cleaning is well below any acceptable standard, which could easily violate health and safety regulations. It's clear that there is no real effort to maintain even basic hygiene.
As for the staff, they are some of the most unpleasant and lazy individuals I've ever encountered. The so-called 'trainers' are utterly disengaged, clearly hating their jobs, and it shows in their complete lack of effort to train anyone properly. Their negligence not only frustrates employees but could also be seen as a breach of their duty of care under employment law.
This place is a disaster, and I strongly advise anyone to...
