Nando's Stratford — Restaurant in London

August 20 2022: The Food First: Only 7/10. I took my 10 year old daughter there and she ordered spicy hot chicken breast, spicy rice, corn on the cob and vanilla gelado to finish. It was a children's size portion and she loved it. I had what I expected to be a reasonably sized chicken butterfly breast but was surprised when it was brought and the size of a small pigeon breast. Nando's are known for this stinginess in other reviews so give customers who part with £20 a reasonable portion-it only costs Nando's £1 at most for a good sized chicken breast. The salad and chips were of a reasonable size and quality with a bottomless soft drinks glass for me whilst my daughter only likes iced water. The Staff Now: 10/10. I placed my order with Shiann who was exceptionally welcoming, very warm and my daughter commented she was very nice and I agree with her. Very impressed indeed. Thank you Shiann for your really excellent service and warm attitude. Our table was tended by Sylvain and he too was exceptionally warm, friendly and very helpful indeed. He was a pleasure to have as our attendant and thank you again to himself. He very quickly brought my daughter's waiting Vanilla Gelato and a doggy bag for her with a smile. It was clear he was very willing to do all he could to make our experience pleasant (even though Nando's was by this time closing.) Very pleasant staff and the doorman was very polite too. Best wishes to Shiann and Sylvain and if Nando's recognise staff for their quality of service and proficiency I hope both Shiann and Sylvain get that recognition and are put to the front of the line when promotions become available. We are both planning to go there again soon so do say hello if you remember us.

UPDATE: Went in June 17 2023 for the same but owing to the cashier printing table 36, not 26, we were waiting for our food for 35 minutes. Spoke to manager, Eddie, and he ensured we not only got our freshly cooked food to the correct table but refunded half the cost and gave us ice cream too. He asked what drinks we would like and I asked for and got two beers too. Absolutely wonderful response and, yet again, the service was excellent. Thank you Eddie!

UPDATE: Went in on 20 January 2024 and price rise from £20 to £29.90 in 18 months. They also have cut down on the food given aswell as the "salad" no longer being a salad. There is ONLY rocket salad leaves with ground nuts; no tomatoes or cucumber. This penny pinching (to save them literally pennies) has ensured Nando's is no longer on my list for eating out. Cheapskates are not tolerated by me so Nando's has gone...

So to start off I haven't been Nando's for a long time, lets say a few years at least, which is why I did not know what to expect.

What I ordered- I ordered a large meal for and few family members. I got the Full Chicken Platter. This contained 4 Garlic bread, 2 portions of Peri Fried (You can change this with any other side listed), and 4 large pieces of chicken (Whole chicken cut up). With bottomless Drink (Essentially unlimited drinks while you are there).

The Shop also allows people to select how spicy the meat can go from (Extra Mild all the way to Extra Spicy) I got the Spicy heat for my chicken (2nd highest) for mine.

Price- £28.00 ~ So as you can see this is quite expensive for what the meal is. Don't get me wrong the items you get arn't bad but this is far too much still. The prices have definitely gone up and this is a sad truth with current economy :/. Keep this in mind its no longer really affordable in terms of pricing. My friend had some tiny meal and it was £18 pounds. Just a joke really.

How it tasted- Right off the bat the experience with the chicken was mixed. On one hand the legs were quite tender and delicious and the heat really added to that flavour. However when it came to the breast section for the chicken it was quite dry which was quite unfortunate. Although the spice did still give it flavour.

The fries were decent, but I would of preferred if they were slightly more crispy.

Nando's has a range of different sauces to offer but sadly has no mayo at all which was quite disappointing. I don't remember if they had it before but either way would of been nice to have since even a chicken shop has that.

Drinks I don't have much to say other than the fact it was affordable and you get good options. Overall would recommend the juice to be honest. Especially the bottomless option

Store atmosphere & Staff - The shop seems to have been renovated and has a much nicer feel to it. You do overall get a decent vibe from the shop and makes you feel comfortable in that way. With staff again it was mixed where some staff were quite nice while others would just ignore you even though they look at you. Somewhat disappointed generally with that.

3/5 for the store for both these things combined.

Overall Ranking 3/5 All in all it was okay but not amazing. Nandos hasn't really changed much despite how long its been around aside from aesthetic of the shop. There are better places to eat and I would personally avoid Nandos and...

We had a fantastic time/meal at Nando’s Stratford/Romford road between 4-6pm … second time in as many months. Main waiter was Louie really lovely young man. Great manners/ service and infectious smile. A real ambassador for the restaurant I hope I have spelt his name correctly if not sincere apologies… he deserves his mention to be correct. Slim average height lovely flowing curly hair. He served my two grandsons, my daughter and myself. He flew around the restaurant to correct an order which came through incorrect and was so apologetic, even though that side had nothing to do with him…. Very professional an asset to the company…. watching him work it is obvious he is proud of what he does, treats all in an equally lovely way and puts in 110%… thank you so much. It felt like nothing was too much. We felt he looked happy in his role and that rubbed off on us and heightened our dining experience. The majority of people /staff we encountered tonight were lovely so thank you all … your care and attention and ability to collaborate to sort minor issues very evident and much appreciated. Thank you all. All our food was well prepared, tasty ans well received… thank you all very very much.

Polite request/ suggestion: Please can the NHS be accepted via app… scan ID etc. It would ease the queue at tills…. Staff are doing their best in hectic situations … Nando’s is a favourite with many…but some people just take longer at the tills with...
