Booked this for a birthday meal for 8 of us on a Saturday night due to location being close to hotel and right on the river. Very nice decor and food was good, however service was really not great at all. There were only 2 people serving at the bar and when we told one we had booked and asked what name she said "oh you might be upstairs" and then proceeded to serve someone else, leaving us to find our own way upstairs and guessing where we were sitting. The only table for 8 was not laid out and got the feeling no one was coming to see to us. I was right, as the only two staff were still downstairs at the bar chatting. I asked if they were actually expecting us and discovered that there was a table already set out for us downstairs. We came back downstairs and sat at our table but were then just left. No offers to get drinks straight away and we had to find our own menus that were lying on a table by the door. After a few mins we were finally asked for our drink order which was correct and came quickly. The bar and rest of the restaurant wasn't busy at all by the way. When the drinks were delivered we ordered our food. The same girl who told us we were 'probably' upstairs then left us to it took our orders by memory. Most of the food came promptly however we asked for 2 of the meals with chips and they came with mash instead. We didn't bother to complain about this as they just wanted to eat and it was apparently nice mash. 2 of us ordered pizzas however these didn't arrive at the table until 10 mins after everyone else's meals. All meals should have been ready at the same time and brought together not after some had half finished theirs! It's not as if the 'restaurant' was busy! I'd hate to be ordering a meal in this place when it's packed and there are lots of orders to organise! We were never asked if we wanted desert, and it took a while for one of them to realise our plates needed clearing. We also had to ask twice for the bill. The first time we asked the girl and she seemed to just either ignore our request or forget as she was too busy chatting to some guys at the bar but we asked the guy serving after about 10 mins of waiting for it and he brought it straight away.
We could not fault the food, it was really good however the poor service, incorrect orders and timing of the food arriving did spoil our experience of the place. The staff really need to be a bit more attentive to their customers. They have a really nice restaurant here but it needs to be run as such, not just like a student bar with couldn't care less...
Read moreEvery time I visit this particular bar, I consistently encounter poor customer service. During my most recent visit, I experienced a frustrating interaction with the bartender. When it came time to pay for my drinks, the bartender directed me to walk to the other side of the bar to use the card reader. Assuming that the card reader next to me was not working, I followed the bartender's instructions. However, I soon noticed that other customers were successfully using the supposedly malfunctioning card reader. This inconsistency in the bartender's instructions and the functionality of the card reader was both confusing and inconvenient.
As someone who lives in the buildings above the bar, I am disappointed by the lack of consideration for the local community. It is no surprise that residents like myself would choose to avoid patronizing an establishment that consistently provides subpar service. It is crucial for businesses to prioritize customer satisfaction and take steps to improve their service quality. Addressing issues such as poor communication and unnecessary inconvenience can help attract more customers and foster positive relationships within the community.
Overall, I hope that the management of this bar takes note of these issues and makes the necessary changes to enhance the customer experience. By listening to feedback and making improvements, they can create a more welcoming and customer-friendly environment that residents and visitors alike...
Read moreI have come here before for lunch and have always found it acceptable. However some colleagues and I went here after work and were part of what anyone would consider an unacceptable event. We were upstairs, so without table service. At times certain people ordered food from the downstairs bar and it was brought to the table. At one time a waitress brought food to us after asking a close-by table. We asked to confirm it was for our table and she left it at our table. We later saw the manager reprimanding the waitress for leaving the food on our table. She came back with a bill for the items demand we pay for the items. We kindly asked to speak to the manager. She returned again and removed the food from the table almost removing paid for items in angst. She stated that she did nothing wrong as her manager had told her, but the manager refused to talk to us. We later caught the assistant manager by chance who did apologies however it did little to mask the horrible customer service situation that had unfolded. How does an establishment confuse an order made downstairs by the bar with a group sitting all the way upstairs, DEMANDS they pay for their mistake, then remove served food without even a manager coming to apologies or speak to the table. Poor customer service to...
