Passyunk Avenue is a jolly good American restaurant chain that takes its inspiration from the delightful cuisine of Philadelphia. The name is borrowed from a famous street in South Philadelphia, known for its lively food and dining scene. It's a hot spot for locals and tourists, packed with restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops. Philly cuisine is a real mixed bag of traditional American dishes, international influences, and local specialties, creating a diverse and mouthwatering culinary scene.
So, there were six of us, and we kicked off our foodie adventure with some ciders and beers. As for starters, we went all out and ordered a bit of everything: Philly nachos, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, Philly quesadillas, eggplant dippers, and spicy Wizz and chips. Let me tell you, it was a tough call to pick a favorite because every single dish was scrumptious!
For the main course, some of us went for the famous Philly specialty sandwiches, while others opted for the St. Louis BBQ ribs. Now, I have to be honest here. The ribs didn't quite tickle my taste buds the right way. They were slathered in a thick BBQ sauce that was a bit too overpowering, and the meat itself was on the dry side. Not the best ribs I've ever had, I must say.
But overall, it was a jolly good experience! The staff was attentive and the atmosphere was welcoming. I reckon it's definitely worth a visit if you fancy exploring the flavors of Philly in a lively setting. Cheers! Nick (...
Read moreSo…… We saw the restaurant/bar the previous day and vowed we would visit. Happenstance had it that we passed the next day and dropped in.
Straight away, great welcome from Mark, the guy doing the service. We ordered Pabst beer and thing minutes, it was at our table, cold and delicious.
Mark, a very good sales person, managed to upsell food to us…. What a great move! We Ordered Buffalo Wings. They were with us very quickly and were absolutely awesome. Then…. We ordered Classic Cheese Steak (upsold fries by Mark👍🏻) and…. WOW!… we were blown away. The sandwich was so very tasty. Mark was amazing, he was attentive and interested, very customer focused. Naturally it seems. Although the food was beyond reproach, the service offered by Mark was invaluable. Whoever the owners are, take notice of this guy. He’s a real gem of an employee. You cannot train this into staff. They have ‘IT’ or they don’t. Mark has ‘IT’ in abundance. Many thanks for the welcome, the food, the atmosphere. I have absolutely no reservations in recommending this place for food, beer, atmosphere and customer service. If you haven’t visited this establishment, I would put it on your ‘to do’ list when you visit London. You will NOT be...
Read moreI was a huge fan of the original truck out at Spitalfields, when it was called Liberty Cheesesteaks. Also loved the first restaurant near Euston. Vibe is ok at the Battersea place, but it doesn't match the Philly dive-bar vibe of the original restaurant. It's more a chain restaurant feel now, lost all its character. Which I could forgive if the food was good. The Italian sausage sandwich was nowhere near authentic, even though the fennel sausage was pretty close. It is just so far off a real italian sausage sandwich at RTM that it is sad. Fresh peppers rather than pickled or roasted. some kind of cheese being passed off as provolone but obviously not, no tomato sauce (!!!!!!), owner-dude you need a trip home to get recalibrated. The "Reading Terminal Market" sandwich that my son ordered was nothing like a real RTM sandwich- and he has been to Dinics. And it was 69 pounds for two sandwiches and two margaritas! Also you used to be able to get a half sandwich, which is enough for any normal person, but now you have to get a whole one. I guess that rent in Battersea is expensive. On the plus side, the waitress was lovely and attentive. You have...
