Upon entering great customer service by the tall male with the glasses, just seemed he was happy to help with holding my bag with my laptop for my interview with the embassy. Upon returning I was in a slight hurry to receive my bag to go (however I did not make it aware to the staff as I don’t think it’s polite to hurry them up on what they are currently doing). Spoke to a male in a white shirt who said 2 seconds whilst he delivered a coffee which was perfectly fine. He then proceeded to have a causal conversation from what it seems with his fellow workers in the corner which seem very non work related, completely forgetting that I was standing there. Another colleague picked up on this (same male who served me at the beginning) and asked did he sort this yet, to which I said don’t know, colleague who I mentioned at the beginning got my bag and offered me a coffee before leaving 5* for him. He mentioned to the other worker briefly as I stood there why hasn’t he got sorted to which the male who seemed obviously distracted, which I can only describe as confused as he was asked this, highlighting he completely forgot talking to me. Lovely shop lovely initial greeting, one member of staff letting down...
Read moreWe come here often because it has a nice aesthetic and we are also Australian. There are not many options in the area and that is probably why we come back. But the reality is that the staff are not too worried about providing any level of service or consistency. Perhaps more about looking cool (ouch). Many items on the menu are regularly unavailable and tables are messy. We have sat in the cafe watching as they serve you your food, and then walk back past the messy tables, making eye contact with the dirty dishes on numerous tables, and choosing not to pick them up or clean the tables on their walk back to behind the counter. This is just a simple and efficient way of serving that needs to be taught to your staff. I’m sitting here with 7 tables unclean with plates and coffee cups, as your staff are having a social gathering together at the counter. They are all very friendly, just lazy, and I can’t blame them as I’m sure their wages aren’t great. As members of the local community we would love to see a little more effort being put in so that we can continue to support you and continue to grow our...
Read moreI would like to give my heart felt thanks to the owner of this cafe and his lovely staff. I would also like to apologise. I had a bad morning at a hotel I’d booked to enable me to go early to the American embassy to try to register my children as citizens. I had a suitcase and the embassy said I couldn’t go in with it. This cafe provides a service which no one else offered. The American embassy with all its fancy high profile and expensive security on this occasion came rock bottom whilst this superb cafe soared high!! I was very upset and the staff were gentle and kind. I paid my money. When I came back, the same lovely staff members said a lovely man had paid for my suitcase to be stored. He’d had a bad morning at the embassy also. I hope you read this Sir, you and this cafe give me hope that we are all still human and despite what life throws at us there is selfless kindness and people care about each other. Ten pound is cheap and the other chap who reviewed previously on here obviously doesn’t realise the value he missed. Thank you District Cafe you deserve a 500 Gold Star...
