I went with my wife to the George Pub in Enfield town on the 9-12-2014, we both ordered Prawn Cocktails, when they came up there was No sauce (Rose Marie) on them & when we complained the waitress said that the sauce was in the bottom of the glass, this was not the case & also the lettuce had been cut up into 7.6 centimetre squares & not shredded as it should have been, we both ordered the steak & when it arrived it measured 8.6 centimetre's, ok if you were a child but not big enough for an adult, it was so tough that it was inedible & we took it home for our dog, even he had problems chewing it, we had both asked for our steak to be cooked Medium but when it turned up it was Medium Rare so what was the point in the waitress asking us how we wanted our steak cooked? when my wife & I went to the toilet in the Men's there was No soap to wash your hands & in the Lady's the hand dryer did not work, both of the floors were dirty & in the Bar area the Glass washing cases were on the floor & were Not off the floor as they should have been & plates of food that were waiting for a waitress to serve them were placed next to dirty plates that had been cleared from other customers tables, so on the toilets & glass cases as well as placing plates of food where Dirty plates were placed this Pub broke several Health & Safety Rules. When I tried to speak to the Manager a Mr. Woods he told me that I was being very rude in stating my complaint & that he refused to speak to me, he also refused to give me the name of the company that owned the pub or his area managers name. This pub I have found out is owned by Mitchels & butler the same people that own Toby Carvery & Harvester; I have reported this to them & have been told that they will be in touch with me shortly. Read moreVery rude staff with terrible attitudes. When items advertised on app are not available they do not inform you and dont serve you these items you have paid for. Due to this they delivered our food without drinks and did not sort this out when we asked the server, so we had to leave our food to go cold while we went up to the bar to enquire about not recieveing our drinks, only to be told that they did not have in stock the drinks we'd ordered through their app, and when we enquired why their app said these were in stock and no-one in 15 minutes had come to tell us they weren't and if we could get a replacement they refused to give us a replacement or a refund for the drinks we had paid for, and when we desputed this with the manager she also subjected us to bad attitude and insults and told that they wouldn't serve us just because we had made a complaint despite us having conducted ourselves calmly and politely. So they left us out of pocket for the drinks we had paid for and having to eat cold food where we had been mistreated and made to feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. Also every time we had been there they serve diet pepsi as pepsi and instead of apologising for conning you they tell you they serve pepsi - pepsi max as they dont want to pay sugar tax. Also despite their being many empty tables they are not cleared or cleaned unless you ask and then they act like you're a nuisance for asking , despite their always being staff doing nothing but chatting amongst themselves and sometimes complaining about other customers for everyone to hear . For these reason this badly run pub has lost the custom of myself, my friends and my family unless they get rid of their rude lazy...
Read moreDreadfully rude reaction to breakfast order arriving so late that my partner had to leave hers uneaten and rush to work, having already been at the point of asking for a refund as it eventually arrived. Since she had cut off half a sausage to take with her, the duty manager insisted that no refund (or even apology, indeed) was merited. She even went and brought the food waste bin from the kitchen (yes, really!) to demonstrate that only some beans had been discarded. Of course she couldn't prove that even those beans were from our plate... One of the staff members insisted that the plate was almost finished, which is a blatant lie. Even her co-worker confirmed that only half a sausage was 'missing' from the plate when I finally brought it to the bar since no one was bothering to clear tables.
Lying to customers for what benefit? I'm sure the bar worker lying about what had been eaten isn't getting a bonus for saving on refunds. The manager might decide that refunding £5 is in the interest of the pub's franchise for avoiding (another) negative review and gaining repeat custom, but would rather piss off a customer to support a lying colleague.
Clearly, customer satisfaction is not the concern of this establishment's staff or management.
Note: the (obviously) new staff member who took our order seemed nice and honest. I hope those around him change, or are changed, before he becomes...
