How lucky are Tooting Bec to get a restaurant like this?! Visited for the first time a month ago and we’re squeezing as many visits in as we can now that we’ve fallen in love with the food, the atmosphere and the owners Fernandez and Laura! The menu is concise - steak and empanadas. But my god, you’d struggle to find a steak cooked this well for miles! As a former chef at Gauchos and hailing from Patagonia, Fer has a true passion for food cooked perfectly and authentically. The empanadas are home made and delicious. If you plan to just have a light bite with some wine, they’re great, but good luck resisting ordering the steak when you smell it being cooked for another table!! We ended up ordering the steak, the prawn special and 3 empanadas. All of it perfect! Laura makes for the most charming front of house. She made us feel at home the minute we stepped in the door, and has a magic way of getting customers chatting. We’ve met such lovely people on our visits there, all championing the success of the place and planning a quick return. Laura has selected some fabulous Argentinian wines to accompany the food, and the welcome she provides alongside Fer is unmatched. A small, charming Argentinian restaurant punching above its weight.

I’ve been here at least a dozen times since they opened shop and the food is top notch.

The steak and iberico pork are delicious especially drizzling or dunking the meat with their house chimichurri. It’s so good I’ve ordered more than one for dinner.

Easily some of the best grilled meats in Clapham/Balham. Fer is a real grill master and takes pride in his meat selection.

The empanadas are fantastic - the spicy prawn is my favourite. Each cooked to order and made in house.

One of my favourite parts is the atmosphere. Fer and Lau are an entertaining duo serving up food and conversation, often switching between English and Spanish for different patrons. They make you feel welcome like a part of their family while you enjoy your meal.

I can't wait to go back and sample more empanadas. The flavour combinations are just so yummy. I ordered a couple and then ended up tasting each one because I couldn't stop eating them! Moreish doesn't begin to cover it. And I have a sweet tooth, so couldn't resist rounding things off with the 'sweet bite' and I wasn't disappointed! All of this was accompanied by good wine in a warm and friendly atmosphere - the owners are lovely and really know their stuff.

It has a fun vibe, kooky decor, and outdoor seating too. I'm looking forward to sitting outside next time, as it's set back from the road and so it's a nice spot to relax and good for parking up my baby's pram. All in all, a real find and everyone should...
