I recently visited Gourmet 2 on Tooting Bec Road and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience — from the flavours to the service, it all hit the right notes. From the moment I walked in, the warm, inviting atmosphere set the tone: the staff were welcoming, and the space had a relaxed yet vibrant feel that’s perfect for a casual dinner or take-away treat.
Food & flavours What really stands out is the quality of the food. I opted for the mixed grill and a chicken shawarma wrap — both excellent choices. The mixed grill offered a generous portion of beautifully char-grilled meats, served with fresh salad and a well-balanced side (rice or chips) that complemented the main perfectly. The chicken shawarma wrap was juicy, well-seasoned, wrapped in soft Lebanese flatbread, and topped with crisp lettuce, pickles and their signature chilli and garlic sauces. The sauces added that extra punch without overpowering the dish, which demonstrates the kitchen’s attention to detail.
Additionally, the menu’s breadth is impressive. From hot mezza like wings and falafel, to cold mezzes of hummus and baba ghanouj, there’s something for every taste or craving. Reviewers frequently mention the generous portions and the very reasonable pricing, particularly in a London context.
Value & convenience For the portion size and flavour quality, I found the value very good. It’s also convenient — whether you’re dining in or ordering online. The halal certification is clearly stated, which is important for many diners. The food hygiene rating is also strong: the venue held a 4/5 rating by the local authority in late 2022.
Service & ambience Service was friendly and prompt. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, which always makes for a pleasant meal. The interior is clean and comfortable, making it easy to relax and enjoy the food. I didn’t find any major delays or inconveniences. There are a few notes from other reviewers about delivery or packaging hiccups, but for in-house dining everything felt well managed.
The little details • The homemade garlic and chilli sauces really elevate the dishes — that kind of extra attention adds so much. • If you like meat and char-grilling, the mixed skewers and grill boxes are a must. • For a lighter option, the falafel or vegetarian mezzes are well executed, showing the kitchen’s versatility. • It’s positioned well in Tooting, making it an easy choice for both local diners and those coming from further afield.
In summary If you’re looking for a reliably good Lebanese-style meal in South West London, Gourmet 2 delivers. Great flavours, strong value, friendly service and a comfortable space all combine into a meal that feels both satisfying and well-done. I’ll certainly be back — and I’d happily recommend it to friends looking for something a little different...
Read moreThis place is a complete disgrace. I have been a loyal customer for years, and this is how they treat me? I went to pick up my order, only to be flat-out refused service because I didn’t have cash on me. Meanwhile, they have a card reader sitting there but apparently decide who gets to use it based on some random, inconsistent policy. That’s not just bad service—it’s blatant disrespect.
It’s 2025, and this restaurant is acting like it’s stuck in the Stone Age. Refusing to take a card, especially from a loyal, regular customer, is absolutely pathetic. How dare you treat paying customers like this? You’re lucky people even bother to support small businesses like yours, but after this, you’ve lost more than just one customer—you’ve lost all the trust and goodwill you ever built.
If you can’t run your business properly or treat customers with basic decency, maybe it’s time to shut the doors for good. I’ll make sure everyone knows how unprofessional, backwards, and outright...
Read moreZero star customer service. Business is always about customer service, last week I went to this shop to grape shawarma wrap as I know it’s part of Aya restaurant in Sutton which is my top place to dine in, unfortunately totally disappointed and very upset the way of rudeness and disrespectful represented by the guy (young short one) didn’t have badge name to recognise him. I asked him for regular mix shawarma wrap, then I told him “ sorry could you make it large please”, he haven’t been dressing yet, he have just placed the wrap and lettuce on it, which could be replaced easily, but his way of rude response and attitude showed to me, make me embarrassed in-front of another customer waiting, so I told me to just leave the wrap, I won’t have it, and left the shop. For sure won’t come again as being abused the staff guy, and will let Aya restaurant Sutton manger being...
