Food is really very good, cooked fresh to order plus the cakes are pretty yummy. Staff are friendly but service is often muddled and clueless. There seems no clear system of seating, menu etc. with items often forgotten, menus missing or waiting an age for someone to come to the table. Casual yes, but they charge prices that should warrant good cafe service, achievable with some simple training and systems. The place could do with a good clean and dusting (see grubby faux cake and mess in window and display shelves to rear of cafe for reference), and better extraction in the kitchen would prevent the smell of cooking permeating clothes and hair! However, the space could be slightly cleaner. There were hungry flies buzzing in circles and the clean-ish kitchen was left exposed. There was also an open side door, revealing a trash-filled rear. There was a slight odour in the cafe, along with a constant (distracting) knocking coming from the back.
I will be back, however, to see if this was just a one off or a constant state of affairs. It would be a shame, because I have grown rather fond of this...
Read morePopped in here late one afternoon to get some work done on my laptop. It wasn't busy, maybe 3 other customers. Perfectly comfortable and clean although there wasn't enough ice in my iced tea. However, the staff in the open plan kitchen were so noisy that I couldn't hear myself think. At times they were laughing so loudly and shouting at each other that it was incredibly distracting. Sounded like they were having a great time but the 3 staff on duty were much louder than the rest of the cafe combined.
