Today I visited PizzaExpress Paddington with my sister, hoping for a pleasant dining experience. Unfortunately, our evening took a turn for the worse due to the appalling behavior and discriminatory treatment we received from a waiter named Luigi. I am deeply disappointed by the lack of professionalism and the indifferent response of the restaurant's management.
From the moment we politely asked to move tables, Luigi's demeanor was shockingly rude and offensive. Instead of accommodating our simple request, he responded with hostility, implying that we were unwelcome and suggesting that we leave if we were not satisfied with our seating arrangement. To add insult to injury, he threatened to involve security to forcibly remove us from the premises. His aggressive attitude was completely uncalled for and left us feeling humiliated and marginalized.
What was equally disheartening was the complete inaction of the two managers who were present during the incident. Despite witnessing Luigi's disrespectful behavior towards us, they chose to stand idly by, failing to intervene or reprimand him. Their passive involvement and failure to address the situation not only condoned Luigi's actions but also conveyed a distressing message of support for his discriminatory behavior. The lack of any subsequent contact or apology from the managers further highlights their indifference towards customer satisfaction and their disregard for the importance of addressing such incidents.
It is deeply troubling to encounter racism and discrimination in any establishment, especially in a place that prides itself on serving the public. The experience we endured at PizzaExpress Paddington was not only distressing but also completely unacceptable. Discrimination should have no place in any reputable establishment, and the fact that it was exhibited by both a waiter and overlooked by the management reflects a disturbing disregard for customer well-being.
I would strongly advise others to reconsider dining at PizzaExpress Paddington, as the abhorrent behavior and lack of response from both the waiter and the management team indicate a culture that tolerates discrimination. It is disheartening to witness such blatant disrespect and discrimination, and I hope that this review serves as a wake-up call for the restaurant to take immediate action in rectifying these deeply...
Read moreA series of negative experiences.
booked pizza express for my kid's birthday dinner as it was her fav place in london, we were early as we were knackered from birthday party and all day at the zoo.
we ordered a mint tea, which arrived promptly enough, ordered a second mint tea which we thought they forgot (as saw both waitresses chatting away), but they said they have our order when we reminded them after 15mins and 10mins later, they put some mint leaves in a cup and hot water and decided to serve us the tea
rest of the group arrived and we ordered our food, we were group of 7 and had trouble getting attention from the wait staff to clear our cups and glasses to make space for food.
pizzas arrived and i guess it is standard quality, I found a strand of hair tucked under my pizza, but was simply too tired and hungry to complain, so ate 3 slices of pizza away from that hairy slice and commented to the staff as she cleared our dishes away at the end of the meal. one of us wanted to order side orders, but again could not get any attention so we gave up on ordering.
when i got up to go to the counter to pay for the meal, the waitress stuck the card machine at me and said i can add gratuity as there is no service charge included. i said i wouldnt want to add that as there was a hair on my pizza, she snapped at me to say that i did not pay for my pizza, and i thought to myself that the attitude was shocking - they did not apologise for the disgusting food contamination, we had appalling service and they thought that I should leave a tip because them waiving the price of the contaminated pizza sufficed to making up for the whole experience to the level that we should tip them.
all 7 of us left feeling unsatisfied and unanimously said we will not visit pizza express again. my daughter had a good birthday party and zoo trip before that meal, and this experience will not mar her birthday.
ps: they DID bill me the pizza, they even...
Read moreLet me tell you about my experience here -_- so I turn up with no booking and get turned away which was fair however, I then go into their app (had a 45 minute wait but I didn’t mind since I am pregnant and was craving it) and made a booking only for one server to call me a liar because he said he stopped new bookings online. He also said that the kitchen was closed only for a lady (assuming the manager) to confirm that I indeed did make a booking and invited me and my party to sit.
We were given menus and after literally 1 minute the rude server came to us asking us what we wanted. When we stated we hardly had a chance to look at the menu he sarcastically said take your time the kitchen is closing in 10 minutes.
After browsing the menu the manager came to take our order. When the starter (dough balls) arrived they were not cooked correctly, remained the size of tiny pebbles and were blatantly burnt from the outside. I took one look and asked the server if they were being serious with the starter. He didn’t even say anything and took it back to correct the mistake. The second batch came and although it was not up to the normal standards of pizza express I accepted it as it was an improvement and I was hungry.
We later received our mains and much later into the meal another table turns up. I was confused as when we first sat down we were told the kitchen would close in 10 minutes so why is it after almost an hour the kitchen is still open for other tables ?
I understand that it might have been a long day for the servers however to be called a liar and to be lied to is so unprofessional. So disappointed at the way...
