There are few pleasures more exquisite than discovering a kitchen whose soul is steeped in the culinary traditions of its homeland. Thai Kitchen Richmond is precisely such a place, an unassuming yet glorious homage to the deep south of Thailand, with subtle influences from its near-Malay heritage.
Whilst one will not find the famed หมูกรอบ (crispy pork belly) here-owing, perhaps, to the predominantly Muslim culture of Southern Thailand, what unfolds instead is a menu brimming with vibrant, soulful dishes that more than make up for its absence.
Each plate we savoured was a triumph. The Som Tum (ส้มตำ – Green Papaya Salad) was a veritable symphony of textures and flavours: fresh, fiery, and utterly invigorating. The Pad Kra Pao with minced chicken was equally splendid, aromatic basil and tender morsels of chicken dancing in perfect harmony.
The staff, too, deserve the highest praise. Warm, attentive, and effortlessly professional, they imbue the entire experience with an air of gracious hospitality that feels both rare and deeply comforting.
✨ A word to the wise: Do not miss the Nam Jim Jaew (น้ำจิ้มแจ่ว) – a smoky, spicy dipping sauce of such brilliance it could elevate even the simplest morsel to greatness. Pair it with their crisp fried chicken for an indulgence that borders on the divine.
At long last, Richmond has a Thai dining experience that is as authentic as it is sophisticated…a place where every visit feels like a culinary pilgrimage.
🌿 A triumph. Entirely worth the detour, and then...

We ordered some crackers just because we didn’t even receive our soup for 35 minutes. And somehow they managed to forget our main course until we asked about it. The folks who came in ten minutes after us and ordered after us were already half way through their main course. We don’t know what we did or didn’t do to receive such service. But if a restaurant cannot even have decent service, they should just be a takeaway. I don’t...
Read moreLoved my evening spent in this brilliant independent restaurant. The decor inside is cute, the vibe is chilled and the food tastes great!
If you’re after a relaxed experience and you don’t mind waiting (and trust me the food is worth the wait) make sure you check this place out.
If you are an entitled Richmonder (and there’s a few) who expects to be treated like you’re at a Michelin star restaurant and your side job is complaining to staff… make a u-turn.
My partner and I will be back very soon! Thanks for making our...
