ROTI JOUPA Caribbean Restaurant offers an exceptional and authentic dining experience that stands out for its quality and warmth. As a family-run establishment, it successfully combines the heartfelt tradition of home cooking with the consistency and professionalism of a top-tier restaurant. The welcoming atmosphere makes it an ideal choice for both a casual eat-in meal and a convenient takeaway.
My visit was highlighted by two signature dishes: the Curry Lamb Roti and the Hot Doubles. The Hot Doubles served as a perfect introduction to the meal. This popular street food item was expertly prepared, featuring soft, fluffy flatbreads filled with perfectly seasoned curried chickpeas. The balance of textures and the subtle, building heat from the accompanying sauces was delightful.
The main event, the Curry Lamb Roti, was truly outstanding. The lamb was incredibly tender, having been slow-cooked until it fell apart effortlessly. It was enveloped in a rich, aromatic curry that was deeply flavourful without being overpowering. This hearty filling was wrapped in a house-made roti that was soft, flaky, and the perfect vessel for the curry. The entire dish was a masterclass in balance and portion size, proving both deeply satisfying and excellent value.
A significant part of the positive experience was the service. The staff members are professional and efficient, ensuring a smooth operation whether you are dining in or placing a takeaway order. At the same time, they maintain a genuinely friendly and welcoming demeanour, which reflects the family-oriented nature of the business. They are clearly knowledgeable and proud of their menu.
In conclusion, ROTI JOUPA delivers an impressive and memorable taste of the Caribbean. With its superb food, professional yet personable service, and comfortable environment, it is a restaurant I would highly recommend without reservation and one I am certain to...
Read moreThese individuals (i believe their names are Robin and Nisha from an article i read online) are honestly some of the kindest, sweetest and most welcoming owners I've ever had the pleasure of meeting in the hospitality / food industry.
My family and i visited Roti Joupa based on the reviews we read and videos we saw online and we were very eager to try Trinidadian food for the first time.
From the time we walked into the restaurant we were greeted with a warm smile and friendly hello from Nisha, who enthusiastically made some suggestions on what we should try and we placed our order. Later on, Robin also came to have a friendly chat with us too, which was nice.
The restaurant was clean and the service was efficient and attentive. We tried a variety of dishes including Doubles, Buss Up Shot, Mac and Cheese, Fried Fish, Curry Goat, Rice and Peas, Roti, Pholourie, and Sorrel Drink too.
Our absolute hands down favourite were the Doubles. Definitely unlike anything we'd tried before and this is where they really shine. Chickpeas cooked to perfection, robust, dynamic flavour profile and all the textures worked extremely well together.
Trinidadian cuisine tastes quite different from your typical Jamaican cuisine, which i thoroughly enjoy...and I've tried loads as I'm a foodie for life! So please just bare that in mind and don't visit this restaurant with that expectation. The flavours are a lot more subtle and understated, yet still pleasant.
We'll definitely be visiting again and I'd highly recommend others to go along and experience the food, graciousness and excellent customer service for themselves too. Keep up the great work and i wish you continued success in your business Roti...

Discovered more Caribbean food so I had to try it. Caribbean food is not just jerk, goat curry, patties and dumplings but there is more! Down south of the Caribbean, you will find Trinidad and Tobago which are two islands that form one nation. Their cuisines are quite similar to Jamaican yet very different. What got me curious was Trini food because they have duck on the menu. Their roti's are interesting because it looks like a wrap with curry inside. I got the duck curry roti which was interesting because it comes on the bone even though it is in a wrap so I'm guessing you eat it open. The duck curry tasted like Indian spinach curry with a savoury taste so I really liked it. The texture of the roti was different as it was quite crumbly like gluten free wraps. Also tried the mac and cheese which was really tasty made with penne. For drinks tried the mauby which is made with tree bark. It is an acquired taste so if you like aniseed with bitterness,...
