Royal India in Covent Garden is a standout spot for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine with a variety of vegan and vegetarian options. This restaurant combines traditional flavors with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, making it a perfect choice for anyone exploring Covent Garden who wants a memorable Indian meal. I started with the poppadoms and dips, which was an excellent opener. The poppadoms were crisp, and the selection of dips added a nice variety, from tangy and spicy to cool and refreshing. I especially enjoyed the fresh chopped onions that came alongside—crunchy and flavorful, they added a nice bite that paired well with the dips. And honestly, there’s no shame in enjoying every bite! For the main course, I ordered the paneer curry, opting for a medium-to-well spice level. The paneer was perfectly cooked, tender, and absorbed the rich, creamy sauce, which was packed with just the right amount of heat to give it depth without overpowering. The spices were beautifully balanced, making each bite flavorful and comforting. The service was attentive and friendly. The staff was happy to answer questions and adjust the spice levels as needed, which is always a plus. Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, or just looking for authentic Indian flavors, Royal India has something for everyone. If you’re in Covent Garden and want a satisfying, authentic Indian dining experience, Royal India is absolutely worth a visit!

A group of 7 ordering meals, a 'set' menu was offered. The service was shocking and the wait for food was severely long. Food was cold and caused one member of the party to be sick. When ordering the 'dessert' part of our menu, on offer was ice cream or coffee. All members went for coffee. The gentleman used a spoon with force to break up the coffee in the tub, that had clearly gone hard. When questioned and viewed the coffee was 18 months out of date. The so called manager wasn't available to speak to. The men weren't not for reducing or compromising the bill until trading standards were mentioned due to the out of date coffee. I would not recommend anyone to go.

We were out for the day , came here a few years ago , so we came back , did not book a table , and did get a table as most of the diners had just left , our waiter Zi was great and very helpful. Service was fantastic. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. The Selection of curry is so good. and thanks to Zi who made our day , and yes will be back again :) Thanks for your reply , just to say it would be great if you put up pictures of the famous people that have been at your restaurant , that might get more people to your restaurant :)

The food was decent enough but the service is absolutely terrible. We were sat immediately when we arrived and asked for our drinks, my friend and I ordered tap water while we browsed the menu. We waited at least half an hour and asked 3 times before we received the waters. My friend ordered off of the set menu which included a starter, maim, side, and dessert of the day. When she was choosing her options she asked what the dessert of the day was and the waiter mumbled something intelligble under his breath. Because she couldn't hear him, she asked if she could see the dessert menu. The waiter flatly said no and walked away. The hostess walked by and placed papadoms om our table amd argued with us when we said we didnt order it and didnt want it. Our main courses came about about 20 minutes apart. We asked for more water and waited another 15 minutes and asked 4 different people before someone came and slammed a jug on the table. After we ate, we debated how long it would take before the dessert arrived. The hostess came and asked what dessert my friend wanted: coffee, tea, or vanilla ice cream. They consider a special dessert of the day to be a hot drink or plain ice cream. The hostess brought rice pudding. When we waited another 30 before before the check arrived, we saw that we were charged for the papadoms, but did not realize until we had paid. Dont come here unless you have 4 hours at...

Avoid this place. Booked online as looked lovely on the website (which I now realise pics look nothing like the actual restaurant) and had decent Google reviews. We walked in and already the atmosphere was weird, the place was empty and the guy was watching his tv show very loudly ignoring us for about 2 minutes. Finally sat us down and took half of our drink orders and walked away ignoring other people on the table. We had to shout at him for the rest of them (this whole time tv show was still blaring). Whilst we were waiting for our drinks two other guys walked in sat down and then walked straight back out. We got our drinks that all tasted watered down and we complained about the wine and he looked clueless, said nothing and walked away. Then whilst browsing the menu 2 members of staff were stood at our table staring and watching us which made us all feel really uncomfortable only moved when I said vary loudly why are they watching us. We were asking one of the guys about items on the menu and again he was clueless. We didn’t order food or drink our drinks, paid off the drinks and left with haste and went somewhere else . I’ve never felt so awkward and uncomfortable in a restaurant before. The staff really need to learn how to treat people and about their menu. A massive waste of...
