I actually do enjoy Shake Shack burgers. Visited a few in the States and Japan and the shack burger in Covent Gardens lived up to the expectations I had. The only reason I put a one star is hopes the management see and improve their dismal operations. Over 30 minutes for a single burger. I understand the kitchen can have confusions especially in a busy location like Covent Gardens. But why does the server tell you the wait is 10 min to begin with? If you can't keep up with the orders stop taking them or communicate the situation. Fail at expectation management and you get angry customers. Why is their absolutely no communication going on between the cooks, line management, and the customers? No one seems to know what's going on and on top of that orders are mistaken when it finally comes out. It's not a good set up to see person after person leaving angry and demanding refunds with no supervisor in site to even at least seem like they're trying to alleviate the situation. I felt bad for the aloof part timer trying best to handle the angry customers while not knowing what to do. Shake Shack, if you want to become a global brand, please sort out your operations first or don't even think about expanding. You're making me envy Macdonald which of course, isn't a compliment.

This place is a great fast food choice! If you're looking for Chicken nuggets that are as good as Chick-Fil-A (maybe better.) The burger, as expected, tasted delicious. They served alcoholic drinks which surprised me, so I got a Gin & Lemonade, it was... well... a Gin and a Lemonade. Simple, but no complaints! BUT there is a reason for the 4 stars and not 5, the hot dog. The cheese I got on it just tasted cheap and the meat itself was just mediocre as can be! I will also mention that they offered another alcoholic drink, something along the lines of Bourbon Caramel Shake, but when I asked about that they told me they didn't serve/have them for some reason, that was a let down. Location of this place is great, so many little stores around you to check out when you're done eating.

Well being a massive follower of first we feed on YouTube. I have heard the hype between shake shack and ‘in & out’. So given I was in the area I had to see what the hype was all about. That is exactly what it turned out to be unfortunately. The fries were stone cold after I had sat for over 15 minutes waiting for the buzzer to tell me to collect my food. No worries I told myself I came for the burger. Now I’m not going to say it was bad, it wasn’t. Although I imagine the US price goes a long way to making it an everyday quality burger. Unfortunately this doesn’t translate across the pond here in the UK. Really wanted not to write these words, but there are so many more better burger joints to choose from you would be better searching them out. Arrrgggghhh.

I visited your Covent Garden store on 10 August 2022 around lunch time – After having waited for 25 minutes (my receipt showed my order was processed 1208pm and my order number was 169), I approached your collection counter at 1233pm (you will know in a bit how I remembered the time so preciously) to enquiry the status of my burgers. However, rather than investigating where my burgers were at, your staff at the collection counter simply tried to send me away to say that all burgers take at least 20 minutes without having done any checking with the staffs inside the kitchen. When I said I had been waiting for ALMOST half an hour, rather than showing any empathy and/or investigating the order status, your staff decided to correct my math calculation by saying it wasn’t half an hour from 1208pm. I explained to him that I said ALMOST half an hour and I also didn’t quite know what was funnier – the path/attitude your staff decided to take upon receiving order status enquiry for an order that was clearly taking longer than normal time or the fact the burgers somehow miraculously became ready instantly after I spent 2 minutes repeatedly insisting him to speak with the kitchen. It was by no means a pleasant wait time or a smooth interaction with your staff. I was in a group of 4 yesterday and the rest of my group ordered just before me when queuing – by the time I returned to my table, the rest of my group had all finished eating their food and were waiting for my food just to arrive. Covent Garden is a highly competitive place for burger options besides general lunch options and there is an Honest Burger less than 2 minutes’ walk from your store. The last time I visited your competitor shop the order took less than half the time it took for yours. Their staff also came across much nicer and much friendlier. I suggest you take this issue seriously or otherwise you would know where I will be going next time when I want a burger for my lunch. Thank you. Update: They treated a meal for 2 to make up for the above situation - updating the...

EDIT - They ask you to send an email, but that's just for trying to appear polite to everyone. In fact I sent an email 2 weeks ago and never heard back. All BS and just for show. Don't fall for this trap of trying to act like they care. They don't!

Appalling Service – Inappropriate and Controlling Behaviour from Staff

I'm not here to comment on the food quality, but I must speak up about the shocking service I experienced at this location.

On 21st July, at approximately 17:54, I attempted to order a burger. A staff member at the till informed me that the burger I selected was not halal. I appreciated the gesture and turned to my friends to discuss.

I then moved to a different cashier and ordered the exact same item. But what happened next was absolutely outrageous — the first cashier actually put his hand over the card machine to stop me from paying and repeated "I said it's not halal". Let that sink in: he physically intervened to prevent me from completing my purchase.

This kind of behaviour is beyond unacceptable. It is not the staff’s job to police customer choices. Informing someone once is considerate. But doubling down, shaming, and then actively blocking a transaction? That is controlling, rude, and completely out of line.

Shake Shack, this is a serious issue. Your staff should be trained to respect customer autonomy and personal choices — not impose their own values or opinions. Please sort this out. It’s 2025 — what kind of world are we living in where someone thinks they can dictate what another adult is...
