Very disappointed with Sheesh Mahal, we ordered takeaway (we normally eat in) 1 starter, 2 mains, 1 rice and 2 breads and that came to £33 so quite expensive. We opted to pay cash and when the driver arrived I tried to pay with 2 x £20 notes and the driver said he had no change and he asked if that was okay? I said no not really but he took the money and no change ever arrived. £33 was expensive anyway but £40 is a rip off, who sends a driver out to deliver for cash with no change!? The lamb karahi curry was basically half a portion as you can see from the picture and was half the size of the chicken madras and the lamb was tough and chewy. The chicken madras was ordered extra spicy but had no heat at all, infact it was very bitter from too much lemon. All in all a very poor takeaway and the most expensive one we have ever ordered. We will not be using Sheesh Mahal again, a much better local option is Jolly's in Whitton if you are looking for a tasty good value Indian.

Sheesh mahal We always look for a bring your own drink restaurant as they usually have the best food! This restaurant did not disappoint! We had the most amazing welcome. Were given a lovely booth for 2! We started with Poppadums and dips. Delicious! One was unique made from coconut!! With our main we chose the house special lamb chops, chicken madras, pilau rice and peshwari naan! The lamb chops were seconds to none! Unbelievable! When visiting new places we love to go to an Indian and this was in our top 10. The food was first class.

I usually enjoy this restaurant and have had great experiences in the past. However, I recently ordered a paneer masala and took the leftovers home, and to my shock, I bit into chicken. As a vegetarian, this was extremely disappointing and upsetting. I hope more care is taken in the future to avoid such serious mix-ups.

We had what was probably the worst restaurant experience of our lives in this place. Saturday night a couple of weeks ago and we were hungry off the train to Twickenham.

The three starters we ordered (chicken, prawn and cheese) were abysmal. So tasteless, so devoid of flavour (yes, in an Indian restaurant!) that we left and went somewhere else for proper food.

Each dish could have been cotton wool or wet paper. Not a hint of spice or flavour. Poorly presented (huge chunks of onion and tomato and no more than two or three pieces of meat/cheese. Just horrible.

And the two waiters who ‘served’ us just grunted. Honestly, they couldn’t have spoken more than five actual words between them. No ‘hello’ or ‘good evening’ or ‘have you chosen?’ Talk about unfriendly.

By the time the third tasteless starter arrived, we were thankful we hadn’t yet ordered mains and decided to leave. Will never go back. Avoid. This place used to be very busy but it was empty when we went and it’s now...

Arrived without a booking on a Wednesday night (just also happened to be an eat out to help out night) they managed to fit 4 of us in - it was quiet when we arrived so service was fairly good, ordered poppadoms and starters which arrived in good time and were really tasty so I was looking forward to the main course - it took more than an hour to arrive. I loaded my plate as normal with veg, rice, curry and started to eat - within seconds both my husband and I started to feel sick and we looked at our plate and our food was drowning in so much oil and my curry texture was extremely congealed as if it had been microwaved. I couldn't eat any of my curry, it 100% was not fresh - neither was my husbands. Also no one asked how it was, or even came during the meal to find out how it was or when they took a almost full bowl of curry away! We probably wouldn't bother coming back here again, there are much nicer Indian restaurants...
