It was a lovely lazy Sunday morning for us. This place looked really cosy inside and no blaring music which seems to be the trend these days. The view of St Paul's out of the window is very special.
The staff were running flat out to fullfil breakfast and coffee orders. Our table was dirty and I asked whether they minded if I used the cloth and spray to clean it (I didn't mind and they were so busy). But instead one of the guys popped over quickly and cleaned it.
All food orders were being done by a single person - who we spoke to afterwards, the lovely Katya. We wanted to thank her for her hard work and she explained how one of the bigger cafés had taken one of their ovens leaving them with only one. This has had a drastic effect on the speed at which they can produce the cooked food. I can understand why this would be frustrating if you were in a hurry but we weren't.
One improvement in their system would be to have order numbers. There were several tables all waiting for the same dishes and when it was ready, the staff would call out "eggs and avocado on toast" and it wasn't entirely clear whose it was. First to grab it basically.
Thankfully, our cooked breakfasts were delicious and hot when it came (hate it when an establishment can't serve hot food) so worth the wait. The eggs were a bit overdone but understandable given the mania.
All breakfasts were being served in takeaway boxes which was explained to us when we took our order. I'm assuming it was to remove the need to wash up which may be down to staff shortages.
Perhaps until they obtain a second oven, they should consider reducing the menu to only...

Popped in for a quick bite on way to visit 180 studios.
Went to the counter (no queue) and the staff member cooking breakfast options shouted through to the back room "Service!".
A guy came out who looked less then enthusiastic about being there.... not a smile in sight and no 'hello'. He took our order, plonked the croissant and chocolate twists on a plate and put them on the counter. He didn't indicate where the drinks were, or if they'd come to the table, he just turned to the people behind us and took their order.
We sat down and ate our food (which tasted nice but the croissant tasted a bit stale at the ends), and the guy who took our order prepared the drinks for the people behind us in the queue before ours (there were 4 of them and only two of us).
We'd finished our food before the drinks were ready. The drinks are shouted out from the counter and you walk up to collect them.
The very berry smoothie was very tasty... I'd recommend. The iced mocha was about 1 inch of chocolate sauce at the bottom of the glass, filled with coffee, and it was impossible get the chocolate to mix with the coffee.... meaning iced coffee had to be drunk, and then a mouthful of chocolate syrup as the finale.
I wouldn't recommend the cafe, but I also wouldn't tell you to stay away. It's a watering hole and will do, but don't expect...
Read moreI absolutely recommend this place! I like to come here for breakfast when I'm in the area on business, and the staff are always incredibly friendly and the food is always fresh and delicious!
The place has a cosy and warm atmosphere, with a fantastic view of St. Paul's Cathedral out the front windows! Service is quick, and if the staff have accidentally forgotten something they are quick to rectify and very lovely about it. They're approachable, happy to give directions and give all-around excellent customer service.
I always end up recommending this coffee shop to everyone I meet, and I recommend...
