Spoon & Rice Croydon — Restaurant in London

Sadly didn't enjoy food ordered. Unsure if this is at fault of the delivery service or restaurant itself. Food ordered was cold and tasteless on arrival. Chewy, dry meat. Awful soggy rice. Sides weren't nice at all. Maybe caught them on a bad day ? Really wanted this place to live up to the reviews I've seen but nothing was enjoyed and honestly the very small amount I did sample has left me feeling unwell with stomach issues. For what I paid I expect something decent. Ordered a range to try and unfortunately none of it was even decent and it ended up being thrown away. Such a waste of food, time and money. It's so difficult to find decent food to order on those busy days and I really had high hopes for this place. Will not be ordering again in future. Not only due to quality of what was received but the Ill affects I am still currently suffering. Poor food is one thing but to actually leave me in physical discomfort after having just a few tasteless bites is shameful. I don't know what happened today but I am not happy at all.

Spent my birthday in boxpark croydon so I could eat at Spoon and Rice. I think they are underrated, especially for the food they make and the price. I could say that Jollibee has gotten expensive but the taste has not improved. Meanwhile, the food at Spoon and Rice reminded me of home. I got the Chicken Juander combo. I would say their fried chicken reminded me of the "Kanto chicken" we frequently bought back home in the Philippines when we can't cook dinner. I loved it so much I ordered another takeaway. The Lomi reminded me of home as well, I could say most of their food tasted authentic. I find myself annoyed at times when some filipino restaurants claim it is filipino, when I can barely taste filipino on their food. the flavour has changed so much to entice foreign customers which is sad. this is not the case with Spoon and rice. I truly hope they open another branch somewhere in the southeast as we have a huge filipino...

I've been coming here since 2021, tried it one time whilst doing deliveries, and wanted something hot for lunch and just can't get enough of it! The best thing about this place is the consistency of quality, hence the food is always great each time! The Chicken Juander and Pork Belly combo is my favourite (and I know these guys definitely added it to the menu after i kept making that combo up!). Of course with a side of lumpia and chili garlic oil for the rice makes it even better. The top man Jeff really knows his stuff and how to keep customers'...
